• Assistant Camp Director

    Summer 2023 Application
  • Responsibilities: Assistant Camp Director (ACD)

The most important role of every JP staffer is to be a Christian witness in word and deed.  Secondly, it is to spend time with the campers, build relationships, and contribute to establishing and maintaining a Christian community.

Although you will have additional in-camp responsibilities, here are the main responsibilities you will have as Assistant Camp Director:

    • Work closely with the Camp Director (CD) to assist with administrative tasks associated with running a work camp. The ACD is second in charge and will, at times, fill the role of CD when the CD is not available.
    • Assist or lead portions of the staff training weekend.
    • Plan and giving a 5-10 minute devotional for the camp one morning during the week.
    • Lead a worksite for the first part of the day.
    • Promote the sponsored mission organization during the week
    • Set up and monitor campers making name tags on Sunday upon arrival
    • Handle all JP merchandise transactions.
    • Help out with evening programs as needed.
    • Complete daily in-camp chores, and more.

    Requirements:

    • Meet by Zoom twice with Camp Director, JP Project Assistant and/or Executive Director before camp week
    • Time commitment: 8 days (Saturday morning to following Saturday morning) * Our expectation, when possible, is for the CD and ACD to arrive the MORNING of Staff Training. This is to allow you to fellowship, as well as prepare for the coming week.
    • Must have completed 12th grade by the summer.
    • $200.00 Stipend will be provided.

  • Your Availability:

  • There are many factors involved when placing JP Staff members on a camp week. We take into consideration the JP staff as a team. Determining factors include the strengths of staff members as well as a balance of new and veteran staff members. All week placement dates will be discussed with each staff member to confirm their availability.

You will also be given the opportunity to register to serve with JP for two weeks of camp, provided you have a week break in between the staffing weeks. If you are interested in serving two JP weeks please be sure to indicate that on the application.

Please Note: The more weeks you are able to check that you are available, the easier it will be to ensure you are placed on a camp week!

  • 7. Would God be pleased with the content of your social media outlets? As a staff member of the Jeremiah Project, you are in a leadership position and will be viewed as a leader in a Christian organization. God requires more of us if we desire to be leaders in His church (see 1 Timothy 3:1-10). Is the content of your online "self" (pictures, videos, text, etc.) consistent with that of a follower of Christ?  Does the content contradict or reinforce basic Christian values and morals? Please review your page before completing the application and answer the next question:

  • Staff Training

  • Staff Training at the Jeremiah Project is a significant piece of our staffing model.  This includes completing training modules online prior to your arrival, as well as in-person training when you arrive on Saturday.

During in-camp training you will hang out and get to know a group of strangers who will quickly become your new JP Staff family.  There are late nights together of laughing, talking and getting to know each other and growing together towards God.

You will need to arrive at Staff Training on Saturday by 12:00pm (if not earlier). All staffers MUST attend the entirety of Staff Training and the camp week.

By typing your name below you understand that attending Staff Training is required of you as a JP Staff member.

  • References: Please supply the contact information for two personal references. You must include their NAME, EMAIL ADDRESS and a PHONE NUMBER.  You may want to include the name of your Youth Pastor or Pastor.

NOTE: Returning staffers do not need to supply references.

  • As part of the leadership team, you will need to have a vehicle in camp with you all week. You will be driving to your worksite Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of your camp week.

  • The safety and security of those whom God has placed in our care is of the utmost importance to the Jeremiah Project.  It is because of this responsibility that JP runs comprehensive background checks on all JP staff and volunteers.  If you are accepted in a JP Staff position and are over the age of 18, then a background check must be completed.  We have partnered with a professional screening company and will provide you with a secure electronic release form and background check form.
