• Kitchen Staff

    Summer 2023 Application
  • Responsibilities: Kitchen Staff (K. Staff)

The most important role of every JP staffer is to be a Christian witness in word and deed.  Secondly, it is to spend time with the campers, build relationships, and contribute to establishing and maintaining a Christian community.  Unlike other staff roles, your role does not allow as much time to interact with the campers attending a JP week.  However, your position is very unique in that you have the opportunity to serve those that are serving others in the community.

Specifically, you will be part of a three-person team that is responsible for preparing, serving, and cleaning up for approximately 75 campers and staff each day.  You and the team are responsible for breakfast and dinner Monday-Friday, and breakfast on the last day - Saturday.  You will be working with a lead Kitchen Staffer who has experience preparing and serving meals for large groups. JP Kitchen Staffers will be lodged with other JP staff.

You will also be responsible for assisting, as needed, with the purchase of supplies for the meals throughout the week.  This means that several times a week you will need to shop at local grocery stores, Costco, etc. to secure the ingredients and supplies that your team will need for the week.

    JP Kitchen Staff Requirements:

    • Time commitment: 8 days (Saturday afternoon to the following Saturday morning)
    • JP Kitchen Staff must have completed 10th grade by the summer.
    • Due to the needs associated with serving on kitchen staff having a car for 10th and 11th graders is not required.
    • Anyone serving in this role in 12th grade or older it is required to have a car at camp.
    • Stipend of $100.00 per week will be provided.
  • Please take a moment to review the Jeremiah Project's Core Values and Statement of Faith.

  • Please take a moment to review Jeremiah Project's Expectations for Leaders Regarding Conversations around Human Sexuality & Gender Identity and JP’s Position

  • If you would like to discuss your role as a JP staffer in light of the ministry’s position, please contact the Executive Director, Todd Freneaux via email at Todd@jeremiahproject.org and he will schedule a time to speak with you.

  • Your Availability:

  • There are many factors involved when placing JP Staff members on a camp week. We take into consideration the JP staff as a team. Determining factors include the strengths of staff members as well as a balance of new and veteran staff members. All week placement dates will be discussed with each staff member to confirm their availability.

You will also be given the opportunity to register to serve with JP for two weeks of camp, provided you have a week break in between the staffing weeks. If you are interested in serving two JP weeks please be sure to indicate that on the application.

Please Note: The more weeks you are able to check that you are available, the easier it will be to ensure you are placed on a camp week!

  • 7. Would God be pleased with the content of your social media outlets? As a staff member of the Jeremiah Project, you are in a leadership position and will be viewed as a leader in a Christian organization. God requires more of us if we desire to be leaders in His church (see 1 Timothy 3:1-10). Is the content of your online "self" (pictures, videos, text, etc.) consistent with that of a follower of Christ?  Does the content contradict or reinforce basic Christian values and morals? Please review your page before completing the application and answer the next question:

  • Staff Training

  • Staff Training at the Jeremiah Project is a significant piece of our staffing model.  This includes completing training modules online prior to your arrival, as well as in-person training when you arrive on Saturday.

During in-camp training you will hang out and get to know a group of strangers who will quickly become your new JP Staff family.  There are late nights together of laughing, talking and getting to know each other and growing together towards God.

You will need to arrive at Staff Training on Saturday by 12:00pm. All staffers MUST attend the entirety of Staff Training and the camp week.

By typing your name below you understand that attending Staff Training is required of you as a JP Staff member.

  • References: Please supply the contact information for two personal references. You must include their NAME, EMAIL ADDRESS and a PHONE NUMBER.  You may want to include the name of your Youth Pastor or Pastor.

NOTE: Returning staffers do not need to supply references.

  • As part of the leadership team, you will need to have a vehicle in camp with you all week. You will be driving to your worksite Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of your camp week.

  • The safety and security of those whom God has placed in our care is of the utmost importance to the Jeremiah Project.  It is because of this responsibility that JP runs comprehensive background checks on all JP staff and volunteers.  If you are accepted in a JP Staff position and are over the age of 18, then a background check must be completed.  We have partnered with a professional screening company and will provide you with a secure electronic release form and background check form.
