JOB SUMMARY
Gold’s Gym Newburgh and Middletown are actively seeking passionate, certified Group Exercise, Cycling, and Yoga Instructors to join our dynamic team. We also welcome individuals with a strong desire to become certified instructors, offering guidance and support to help you start your fitness instruction career. Instructors at Gold’s Gym are responsible for delivering engaging, safe, and effective classes that motivate members and support their health and fitness goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead safe, fun, and motivating group fitness classes for participants of all fitness levels.
- Deliver classes with energy, professionalism, and a strong focus on member engagement.
- Provide proper instruction on technique and form to ensure participant safety and effectiveness.
- Greet participants before and after classes, fostering a welcoming and community-oriented environment.
- Be knowledgeable about class formats, modifications, and progressions to meet diverse needs.
- Ensure the classroom environment is clean, organized, and properly set up before and after each class.
- Maintain valid group fitness certifications and CPR/AED certifications as required.
- Promote other fitness programs and services within the gym when appropriate.
- Attend occasional instructor meetings and ongoing education/training opportunities.
- Serve as an ambassador for Gold’s Gym by creating positive and motivating experiences for members.
- If uncertified but passionate, attend informational meetings to learn about the certification process.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate groups.
- Excellent musical timing, cueing, and communication skills.
- Professional, energetic, and team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to modify classes to accommodate a wide range of fitness levels and physical abilities.
- Knowledge of anatomy, exercise physiology, and safe exercise practices preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPIERENCE
- Current certification in Group Fitness, Yoga, Les Mills, Zumba, or Cycling preferred.
- CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Prior group fitness or yoga teaching experience is preferred but not required for those seeking certification with passion and aptitude.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to stand, move, and demonstrate exercises for the duration of the class.
- Frequent bending, lifting, and reaching during class instruction.
- Ability to lift light to moderate equipment (up to 20 pounds).
- Work in a gym environment with varying noise levels.
- Classes may occur early mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

- Group Exercise Instructors: $18–$26 per class.
- Yoga Instructors: $18 per class plus commission per participant.
