McNair Scholars Program Participant Application

Thank you for your interest in the McNair Scholars Program! In order to be considered for participation in the McNair Scholars Program, please be sure to complete this application in it's entirety including attaching ALL required documents.

Although you should be able to save and restart this application, you may want to review the checklist below, take some time to make notes and gather the required documents, and then return to submit your application all at once.

Review the eligibility requirements for the McNair Scholars Program to ensure you qualify before applying.
Gather your application materials.
1. Personal Statement addressing the following:
  - Tell a little bit about your background and how you selected your major
  - Why would you like to become a McNair Scholar and why you should be selected?
  - What are your academic and career interests and how will becoming a McNair Scholar assist you with your goals?
  - How does graduate school fit into your career goals?
  - What are your educational and research interests?
  - How can the McNair Scholars Program assist you in achieving your professional goals?
2. Financial Verification Documents
  - FAFSA Student Aid Report
  - Previous year's tax return of parent/guardian who carries you on their taxes
3. Contact information for three (3) individuals who can write STRONG FAVORABLE letters detailing your academic potential, motivation, and ability for success as a McNair Scholar and in graduate school.
Once you have completed steps 1 & 2, you are ready to complete the online application.

In order to better evaluate your application, you are asked to attach some required documents below. Please, ensure all the documents are good quality and in one of the following formats Word or PDF. The limit size per file is 500kb. Required documents: - Personal Statement addressing the questions outlined in the checklist above; Financial verification documents (FAFSA Student Aid Report and tax return for the parent/guardian who carries you on their taxes)

Please provide the name, title and email for three (3) individuals who will provide you with a letter of recommendation. Select individuals who can write a STRONG FAVORABLE letter detailing your academic potential, motivation, and ability for success as a McNair Scholar and in graduate school. Once you submit, your selected recommenders will receive an email with instructions on how to submit their letters of recommendation. While three letters of recommendation are encouraged, we are only requiring two letters of recommendation due to recent COVID-19 restrictions that students may have faced.
