Ga Pre-K provides 180 instructional days for students to attend the program. This program is funded by the Georgia Lottery and is a free program to all families who reside in the state of Georgia. Our Pre-K program instructional hours are 7:30am-2:00pm. You will be allowed to drop your child off as early as 7:15am and pick up as late as 2:15pm at no additional cost. Please know that breakfast and afternoon snack will be provided to those students enrolled in the before/aftercare program. Our school calendar will follow with Jefferson City Schools.
Tardiness:
Your child will be required to be in class by 7:30am. Should you need care prior to this, we do offer aftercare for an additional rate. Chronic tardiness can result in disenrollment from the program. Students that are entering class late can pose a disruption to the class during instructional time. Remember, students that are in class on time exhibit the ability to be focused and ready to learn.
Absenteeism:
Ga Pre-K is a free program and must be taken seriously. Should your child be sick or miss a day, a note from the doctor must be provided. Per Ga Pre-K guidelines, students that miss more than ten consecutive days without an excuse will result in disenrollment and the student’s spot in the program will be given to the next person on the waiting list.
Steps to ensure attendance:
1. Phone Call: After three unexcused absences/tardies
2. Letter to Parents: after six unexcused absences/tardies
3. Conference: after eight unexcused absences/tardies
4. Referral to Pre-K: after ten unexcused absences/tardies
We, as a school, want to make sure that your child is receiving the best educational experience possible, thus making sure your child is present is crucial. Please know that we value your child’s time with us and want you to deem it as important as well.
