In order for your student to participate in the Victory Charter School Osceola Digital Learning Project, you and your student must read and agree to the terms listed below.
Parents and students must sign this agreement and return to the main office where it will be kept on file.
Once this completed form has been returned to Victory Charter School Osceola, your child will be assigned a device for their use throughout the school year. The device must be returned to the school.
By signing this Contract, parent and student acknowledge and agree to the following:
- Computer Use Policy: I have read and understand the Victory Charter School Osceola Internet Acceptable Use Policy and understand that it will be strictly enforced for the use of my student’s device computer at and away from school. Students are not to access or make use of ANY material or attempt to locate material that is unacceptable in the school setting or violates the Internet Acceptable Use Policy. This includes, but is not limited to, pornographic, obscene, harassing, or vulgar images, sounds, music or language, video or other materials, and music video downloads or file sharing.
- Educational Purpose: Technology access has been established for educational purposes and will be consistent with the district's curriculum and the Florida Standards. The term "educational purpose" includes academic activities that directly improve upon 21st century skills such as creativity, innovation, critical thinking, problem solving, communication, and collaboration.
- As a student, I will:
- Use technology for educational purposes
- Follow the Code of Student Conduct
- Follow local and state laws
- As a student, I will not:
- Use district technology for commercial purposes
- Offer, provide, or purchases products or services using any Victory Charter School Osceola resource
- Personal Safety: In order to ensure a safe, positive, productive, and nurturing educational environment for all, students are expected to demonstrate the following responsible technology uses:
- As a student I will:
- Keep private information, such as my address, phone number, birthday, and other identifiable information private,
- Keep my password secure and not provide it to another student
- Report anyone who tries to use technology to hurt or harass me to a teacher or other Victory Charter School Osceola employee
- Tell a teacher or other Victory Charter School Osceola employee when someone or something makes me uncomfortable
- Treat other with respect
- Use appropriate language
- Offer constructive criticism when appropriate
- As a student, I will not:
- Log in to any account other than my own
- Use Victory Charter School Osceola technology to engage in any illegal acts.
- Cyber-stalk or cyberbully another person
- Coerce or extort another person
- Make threats of violence or harm against another person
- Use obscene, profane, lewd, vulgar, rude, threatening or disrespectful language
- Harass another person
- Knowingly or recklessly communicate false or defamatory information about a person or organization
- Share a privately sent message without the consent of the person who sent the message
- Share private information about another person
- Participate in sexting
- Use discriminatory language
- Care of Computer:
- As a student, I will
- Be responsible for the proper care and maintenance of the Victory Charter School Osceola assigned device AT ALL TIMES.
- Make arrangements to ensure that the device travels safely between school and home (when given permission) including ensuring that it is always carried in a backpack or protective case.
- As a student, I will not:
- Leave my device unattended unless it is properly stored in a secure place.
- Not write on or place any type of adhesive stickers or labels to the device or the cover.
- Carry my device from location to location open or out of its assigned case.
- Battery Charging: It is the students responsibility to ensure that their devices are fully charged when they arrive at school. Students who fail to do this will not be given a supplemental device and this may cause them to fall behind on classroom assignments.
- Care of Files: Student is responsible for backing up his/her own files. Files may be stored in their Google Drive.
- Download of Programs and Materials: Students are not permitted to download anything to any school device.
- Search and Seizure by School Officials: The student device and all files are property of the Victory Charter School Osceola and are subject for inspection by school staff and parent-guardian upon request. This includes providing access to all messages sent or received through any Internet service provider using the school device. An individual search will be conducted if there is reasonable suspicion that students have violated this agreement, Victory Charter School Osceola Policies, the Code of Student Conduct, or the law. The investigation will be reasonable and related to the suspected violation
- As a student, I will;
- Allow any teacher, administrator, or Victory Charter School Osceola IT staff to review my work and activities created on a school device or the VCS network at any time
- As a student, I will not:
- Use technology to gain access to student grades or private student records, or other student information
- Download unauthorized software, apps, extensions, or plug-ins on a Victory Charter School Osceola device
- Intentionally spread computer viruses
- Bypass, destroy, disrupt, modify, or abuse Victory Charter School Osceola network access.
- Use of Victory Charter School Gmail Account: Students will be provided with a Victory Charter School Gmail account that will allow them to utilize communication with teachers, Google Apps, and Google Docs as part of their learning experience.
- Damage to Devices: Any damage, lost, or stolen devices can result in compensation for damages by the student’s family. The fees are as follows:
- Broken Screen: $100
- Lost or Stolen iPad: $400
- Broken Macbook Screen: $150
- Lost or stolen MacBook: $900
- If any of the above policies or responsibilities is not adhered to, student’s computer privileges and access to the device computer may be suspended until it is deemed appropriate for reinstatement. This will be at the discretion of the building administration in collaboration with classroom teachers.
