The Feminist Mindset Revolution Fund was founded to make Clutch College events and UnF*ck Your Brain advanced trainings more accessible. The grants for each event will honor a different feminist thinker, activist, or inspiration.
We are thrilled to be offering a limited number of scholarships to Clutch College LIVE in honor of Marilyn Waring.
Marilyn Waring is a New Zealand policy scholar, international development consultant, environmentalist, and the principal founder of feminist economics. She got her start as the youngest member of New Zealand parliament at age 23. In 1984 she moved from politics to academia to focus on feminist economics, and economic factors that influence legislation and aid. In 1988 she wrote what has become her most widely known book, If Women Counted. The book, and Waring's subsequent life's work, criticized and challenged economic measures such as gross domestic product that would count oil spills and war as contributors to economic growth, but deem child-rearing and housekeeping valueless.
She showed exactly how the unpaid work traditionally done by women has been made invisible within national accounting systems and the widespread damage this causes. By pointing to a similar neglect of the natural environment, she also issued a wake-up call to issues of ecological sustainability that have only grown more pressing over time.
Her work has influenced both academia and international policies, leading the United Nations to redefine gross domestic product, inspiring new accounting methods in dozens of countries and becoming the founding document of the discipline of feminist economics.
Grants will range from $500-$2500. Please carefully consider your financial needs in your grant request, understanding that the overall grant fund is limited; the more accurate you can be in identifying the minimum amount needed to make your participation possible, the more people can receive support.
Please carefully review the participation requirements for scholarship recipients when you click "submit" on this form.
You will be notified whether your application is accepted by email. If you are notified that you have received a grant, you will have 72 hours to pay the full remaining balance of Clutch College LIVE, or to put down the first of several installments.
As a reminder, if you don't receive a grant, there will likely not be a full tuition spot available to Clutch College LIVE at that point, as these events sell out of full-tuition spots within 3 days as a rule. If you are able to enroll in a full tuition spot in order to attend, we recommend you do that to ensure you get a spot. This scholarship is intended for people who would not be able to attend otherwise.
