Chesapeake Public Library account holders may request a purchase of books, ebooks, e-autodiobooks, audiobooks, music CDs, DVDs, or Blu-rays by logging into My Account then selecting “My Requests” from the drop down menu, then click "New Request".

Traditional library cards, CPL Limited cards, and Business cards will be issued to eligible applicants upon completion of library card application and presentation of government-issued identification.

Patrons under 16 years of age must have a guardian present to receive a traditional or CPL Limited card. E-cards will not require identification.

Locations and Hours

Chespeake Public Library card accounts have both a password and a personal identification number (PIN) that are assigned in person at any library location. Once assigned, customers may change the password or PIN through the My Account feature.

The password is required for access to My Account. If you do not yet have a password, please come into a location or call 757-410-7100 during regular business hours.

The PIN is used for access to Overdrive and Hoopla as well as many other electronic resources offered by the Library.

Library Volunteers Policy

Chesapeake Public Library (CPL) accepts donations of books, DVDs, records, music CDs and other materials from individuals and organizations. Donated materials should be free of damage, mold, mildew, strong odors, bugs and be in good physical condition. Please visit the Donations and Gifts policy on our website to find out more.
