Brief Job Description:
The shift lead is responsible for directing and maintaining a healthy and efficient shift. This role is a maverick and can hold various job duties while on shift: cashier, barista, bartender, shift lead. The shift lead ensures that all team members are working to their full potential and completing their assigned role and task to the standards as set by Provision Coffee. The job position acts as a liaison between team members and management and is an integral of the leadership team. Overall, the shift lead is responsible for all interactions with customers, products being served, and job duties being performed while they are on shift.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Leads and models overall culture, values, mission, and spirit of the company
- Controls the pace, timing, and tasks of that shift
- Upholds the standards and necessary duties of that shift according to opening/closing/mid lists
- Delegate tasks to all team members on that shift to ensure they are completed in a proper and timely manner
- Receive and track incoming orders, allocate to proper storage, and submit proper documentation
- Participate in the cleanliness and organization of the front and back of house
- The shift lead is most responsible for ensuring all items are put away and stored in an efficient and safe manner for all team members to access
- Handle customer complaints, and make decision on correct action to remedy
- Manage all team members hours while on shift to ensure they take necessary breaks and cuts as needed
- Direct team members to various stations while on shift and adjust accordingly so each team member is working all stations
- Participate in new team member training by guiding them through the shift and responsibilities
- Informs all team members on their shift of immediate operational changes, which includes but not limited to: items being sold out, change to drink preparation, etc.
- Taste and ensure quality control for beverage preparation, including but not limited to: espresso, iced coffee, cocktails, etc.
- Complete daily end of shift report
- Working alongside management to enforce any institutional changes
- Participate in weekly management meetings to communicate any issues and solutions
Required Skills & Physical Requirements:
- Must have previous leadership experience or have worked in specialty coffee for at least 1 year
- Must be able to stand up for 4 hours at a time
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs of product
- Must hold and maintain Food Handlers Certification
- Must have reliable transportation to arrive to their shift on-time
- Must have a working cellphone
- Must have good time management skills and ability to determine priorities
- Must have good communication skills and ability to relay proper information to team members in an appropriate manager, at an appropriate time
Position Type:
- This position reports directly to the General Manager for overall needs, included by not limited to: time off request, human resources related issues, personal conflicts, etc
- This position is hourly, and shall not exceed 40 hours per week without approved consent from the General Manager
Compensation:
- $15.85 per hour with tips
- Paid Time Off: 1 hour earned for every 52 hours worked, applied after 90-day waiting period. Max balance is 40 hours
- Earned Sick Time: 1 hour earned for every 30 hours worked

- This job includes a 30/60/90 day review. Compensation is eligible for negotiation 1 year after hiring, and every 12 months thereafter
