2. OPTION 2 – CUSTOM SCHEDULE
Custom payment schedules are available, but should be agreed upon in writing by
submitting the “payment plan” form with the Head Band Director prior to July 30, 2022.
B. Tuition Refunds
1. Voluntary Termination of Membership
If for any reason you decide that the Fossil Ridge High School BAND is not for you and you withdraw by your own choice, we have in place a refund schedule that is prorated depending upon the date of termination. Please read this policy carefully. We will withhold a certain percentage of fees paid as determined by the date that you have chosen to terminate membership. Realize that the later you depart, the more severe the penalty due to nonrefundable travel expenses, consultant salaries, and production costs.
NOTE – all decisions to terminate membership should be communicated through e-mail, fax, or mail with the Head Band Director. The date of departure will be considered the time that written communication is received by our office.
The schedule below assumes that you have in fact paid all fees on a timely basis. Students who are behind in payments will still be responsible for paying the fees associated with the schedule below. I.E. – should you terminate your membership with band; you are still responsible for the portion of the payment listed below next to the date to cover costs associated with participation.

The money above is the amount that will be retained by the Fossil Ridge Band to cover the cost of non-refundable travel, consultant salaries, and drill/music arrangements. The later a student drops, the more money is retained to cover expenses.
2. Involuntary Termination of Membership
“Involuntary Termination” of membership includes removal from the band program for
disciplinary issues, OR medical release. Should life circumstances (i.e. loss of employment)
cause a student to not be able to participate/travel, we will meet to discuss the situation case by case with each family and our administrator to determine a refund plan. If your membership is terminated due to grade ineligibility or flagrant misbehavior (destruction of property, insubordination, fighting, hazing) you shall receive NO refund.
3. Termination Due to Injuries
If a student is injured and is unable to participate, we will meet to discuss the situation case-bycase with each family and our administrator to determine a refund plan. If a student is injured, but can still travel – we will explore this option. We will need a doctor’s note to verify the medical situation.
II. KISD Instrument Usage Fee (only students using school instrument)
The KISD Instrument Fee covers use of school equipment for those students renting a school instrument for the full year. All maintenance and damage done to band equipment will result in billing the member for repair/maintenance costs incurred.
NOTE: Instrument Usage Fee Due on or before July 28th - $100.00 (NOT INCLUDED IN THE BAND PARTICIPATION FEE)

**Equipment damage assessment is at the discretion of the Band Directors or KISD Inventory Control. Equipment will be evaluated periodically to determine condition and repair needs.
***A student who is using an instrument that does not meet the minimum equipment standard for a student of the Fossil Ridge Band may be issued a school owned instrument and will be expected to pay the Instrument Usage Fee. A parent will be notified prior to the instrument being issued.
III. Additional Costs Not Included in the Band Participation Fees
Each band member will be responsible for purchasing additional items including but not limited to shoes, gloves, stadium bags, flip folders, practice tee, practice shorts, and show shirt. Colorguard members may also be responsible for purchasing warm-up outfits, makeup, hair extensions (as deemed necessary), and other personal
equipment not included in the FRHS fees.
IV. Colorguard Uniforms
Each year, color guard members are measured and a custom uniform is made for each student. The uniforms will be used through the fall and returned to the band program at the conclusion. Students will be billed for any missing uniform components.
