Trans Asylum Seeker Support Network Internal Collective Application
The Trans Asylum Seeker Support Network, o La Red de Apoyo Para Solicitantes de Asilo Trans, has spent three years innovating and building a radical alternative to the available forms of asylum seeker support organizing. An alternative to the often limited, bureaucratic, and condescending forms of charity available through nonprofits, churches, and sponsorships, TASSN is built upon anarchist and anti-imperialist principles of border abolition, solidarity, grassroots organizing instead of professional work, and direct collaboration with people seeking asylum to structure the forms, ways, and timelines of support we give. Our collective is an ongoing experiment in anarchist organization/institution building, in figuring out longterm sustainability, trauma-informed care, anti-carceral crises and conflict resolution, group decision making processes, boundaries and relationship building, culture building, movement building, and more. We are so excited to receive your application. Your application is encrypted through Jotform, and confidentially reviewed, in alignment with our security culture practices, by our current Volunteer Coordinator and collective members.
After the Form
We will review your form within two weeks of its submission. If you are a good fit, we will reach out to schedule a meeting with you to get to know each other better, and interview each other, to see if we are mutually a good fit. It may take a few meetings so that enough of our collective members can meet you!
Come As You Are & Our Politics
Some of these questions may feel intimidating or hard to answer. There are also a lot of questions! Please take care of yourself and give the amount of time to this form that feels reasonable for you. While we appreciate effort and thoughtfulness going into these forms, we have an expansive and deep appreciation for our comrades and do not expect perfection. We are all about learning and growing together. We do not participate in woke olympics, identity politics, tokenization, hot takes, or walking on eggshells. We care about who you are, how you will show up, and the lived experiences you bring as a whole person.
