This grant program allows the Colorado Department of Public Safety and local governments to evaluate and design safer streets and neighborhood models that discourage crime, revitalize community image, and establish place-specific crime prevention strategies that account for geographic, cultural, economic, and social characteristics of the target areas.
Grant funding CANNOT be used

to hire law enforcement, code enforcement personnel, or peace officers

for facial recognition purposes

surveillance programs that utilize networks of sensors to detect gunshots, commonly referred to as "ShotSpotter" program
As funding allows, technical assistance is available to local governments.
Technical assistance includes:

Assist agencies in identifying community partners

Identifying available data resources for analysis

Recommendations for analysis needed to show location and scope of crime in the target area
