    • All current and future Newark Band students must complete this registration.
    • All Concert Band and Percussion Ensemble members are required to be Marching Band members. 
    • Marching Band members are still permitted to join all fall athletic programs.
      • When a performance conflict arises, we kindly request that you do not miss Band Festivals or Competitions.  
    • This registration is due by Friday, June 12th, 2026
      • The date needs to be early so we can ensure all are included in the field show design.

  • When you register for classes at Newark High School:

    "Concert Band" is the class for wind players and percussionists (drums, mallet keyboards, guitarists, pianists).

    Marching Band is a required element for the course.

     

    Colorguard members do not need to take any specific courses.

  • Marching Band Rehearsal Schedule

    There are changes to the rehearsal schedule this year - all members should read. Each rehearsal earns formative points towards you grade.

  • Spring Band Training for ALL MEMBERS

    June 3rd, 4th, & 5th 2026
    6:00 - 8:00 pm

    • All new members (incoming 9th graders included) and returning members must attend
    • This is where you'll meet new friends, acquire new music, and learn what to expect from the upcoming season.

  • Summer Rehearsals

    Colorguard and Percussion Members

    • Bi-weekly practices throughout June, July, and August.
    • Section Leaders will contact you about the dates.
    • Attendance is required.
    • Any member not in attendance may lose his or her spot in the ensemble.

    Wind Sectionals

    • Your section leaders may contact you about Sectional Rehearsals over the summer. They're fun, you should go!

  • Season Rehearsals (All Members)

    Tuesday and Thursdays from 6:00 to 8:30 pm starting September 4th and ending November 6th.

    Evening rehearsals are when we put the music together with the visual, along with the Colorguard.

     

    Please Note:

    Any student who misses the Thursday evening rehearsal will not perform the field show element at the following performance, but should still attend for the performance in the stands.

    Students who participate in Newark Athletics are permitted to miss a maximum of 2 marching performances, none of which can be a Festival or Competition. 

     

    Please email Archer directly about rehearsal conflicts so he is aware. 

    If you participate in two activities, it is expected that you balance your schedule between both.  If you need to miss more, speak with Mr. Archer.

    Newark HS Marching Band requires membership dues to cover various expenses that aren't fully funded by the school building or school district. It is common among marching bands regardless of school or district. These expenses include uniform upkeep, instrument care, music licenses, specialists, travel costs, food, props, competition and festival fees, and other show-related materials.

There are some required items specific to Wind Players, Percussionists, and Guard Members, as well as some one-time purchases specific to Rookie Members (or updates to growing Veterans).             All Members: Membership Dues. All members pay the participation fee. The participation fee covers yearly costs such as Uniform Cleaning, Band T-Shirt, Band Gloves, Colorguard Flags, Transportation, Food, Equipment, and more.

            Wind Players: Band Gloves. 1 pair of Long Wrist Sure Grip Band Gloves are included in your Membership Dues. Click on the image for a size chart. For wind players only. You may purchase additional.



            All Members: Band T-Shirt. 1 tee is included in your Membership Dues. You can purchase additional for parents or siblings. Tees are Gildan Softstyle Unisex.



            Guard Member Uniform. All Guard Members receive a new uniform for this year's performance. Sizes already measured and ordered. Not all, but a large portion of dues cover the uniform cost.

            Uniform Requirements for Winds and Percussion
            Winds & Percussion: Dinkles Marching Shoe. All Rookie Wind Players and Percussionists need to purchase the Dinkle Edge Marching Band Shoe. Veteran members need only purchase if their old shoes are lost, worn, or too small. Medium width only. For a wider foot, order 1/2 size to a full size larger.



            Uniform Requirements for Guard Members
            Guard Members: Ever-Dri Glove. All Guard members need a pair of Ever-Dri Fingerless Guard Gloves. Click the image for a size chart. Only select this option if you need a pair.



            Guard Members: StylePlus Dance Shoe. All Rookie Guard Members need to purchase the StylePlus S-Five Performance Guard Shoe. Veteran members need only purchase if their old shoes are lost, worn, or too small. Medium width only. For a wider foot, order 1/2 size to a full size larger.
