2026 Abstract Submission Criteria – Transcultural Nursing Society
We welcome abstract submissions that reflect the diverse and evolving landscape of transcultural nursing. Please review the following guidelines before submitting:
Membership in TCNS is strongly encouraged but not required to submit an abstract.
TCNS accepts a wide range of presentation types:
• Research presentations (qualitative and quantitative)
• Evidence-based practice presentations
• Non-research symposium presentations
Submissions are encouraged from all healthcare disciplines, including:
• Students
• Clinical practitioners
• Researchers
• Administrators
• Educators
We welcome a diversity of topics, theories, theorists, frameworks, and models that advance culturally congruent care.
Poster presentations will be delivered electronically, with a required in-person overview on a designated conference day.
All presenters (poster and podium) must:
•Register for the conference
• Attend in person
• The individual submitting the abstract must also be one of the presenters attending the conference. Substitutions are not permitted.
• Presenters must complete registration by September 15, 2026, to remain on the program.
• Please note: Registration fees are non-refundable after this date.

Abstract Submission Information:
- Abstracts must address the conference theme and objectives.
- Abstracts must be blinded and contain no personally identifying information.
- Abstracts must be submitted through the secure online system.
- Abstracts must be limited to 500 words. No reference list should be included.
- Research and Quality Improvement(QI) Project presentations are required to have undergone an IRB review.
- Research and other presentations on indigenous populations must be approved by the council/governing body of the indigenous communities. If it is research, then IRB approval from the author's institution is also required.
- Only submissions with completed research will be accepted for podium presentations. That is if a submission to any category includes results of an investigation, only completed research will be accepted for a podium presentation. On the other hand, if the presentation falls into a category other than research, there is no such requirement.
Research-based presentations should use the IMRAD (introduction, methods, results, and discussion) structure.
- Posters may include pilot projects, ongoing research, preliminary analyses, literature reviews, or other non-research projects.
- Abstracts should be submitted for new work, gold standard information, and/or an original idea, concept, improvement, or revision of an old idea/concept.
- Non-research symposium presentations may be submitted.
- Each abstract should include a section on significance or relevance to the development of transcultural knowledge.
- The individual submitting the abstract MUST be attending and presenting at the conference. You may not submit an abstract and have a secondary individual present for you at a later date.
- The abstract submission deadline is midnight Eastern Daylight Time on May 15, 2026.
