The following information has been prepared to acquaint you with the REIGN KC dance team. We feel it is necessary that you understand exactly what is expected of you if you are selected to join the team. Those trying out and their parents should read this information carefully before submitting registration form and fees. Please realize that signing the application form states that you understand and are willingly able to abide by ALL expectations and guidelines set forth by the team.
DANCE IS EXPENSIVE AND A SIGNIFICANT TIME COMMITMENT FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR. Our season runs from August to June. It will typically require a commitment of 4 sometimes 5 nights a week. Being a member requires a great deal of hard work and dedication, so we ask that all applicants evaluate their current and future commitments before trying out.
            ATTENDANCE:
Attendance at ALL events (practices, community events, competitions, fundraising events, etc.) is mandatory, unless a parent has gotten it cleared with a REIGN KC Staff member. Demerits will occur with any tardiness or lateness.
Dance clinics are also mandatory, and all dancers must pay the expense whether they attend or not. If you know that you will be absent from any of the listed practices, clinics, functions, communication to the entire staff is required immediately. Remember, you are signing up for a competitive dance team, and if you are selected, the team must be a priority.
            ABSENCES:
Coaches reserve the right to determine excused and unexcused absences. Any absence will affect your role on the team as it negatively impacts the entire squad when members are absent. PLEASE NOTIFY ALL COACHES WHEN A KNOWN CONFLICT ARISES. Excused absences include, but are not limited to: illness excused by a parent confirmation, funerals, family emergencies, religious observance, etc. Unexcused absences include, but are not limited to vacations, work, forgetting, waking up late, not having a ride, other extracurricular activities.

Monthly dance cost is $65/dancer. Fees are due the 15th of every month and a $10 late fee is applied the 17th of the month if not settled. After the 20th, the dancer will no longer be able to practice, and after the 1st of the month, will be removed from the Band App.
When traveling, payment will be due for the bus the month prior to competition (Generally the cost is between $85-$95/pp per trip). IT IS MANDATORY FOR ALL TEAM MEMBERS TO RIDE THE BUS FOR COMP! Once you have registered and filled out the team application, you will receive a listing of costume outfits needed. When beginning this list is long, but there will be some time to pay, we will give a breakdown of this to you.
            WORK OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL:
Most students cannot be enrolled in school, maintain good grades, maintain adequate health, be committed to dance, AND work a full or part time job. In most cases something will suffer, therefore, please make sure if the dancer has a part time job, that the job knows their dance schedule and willing to accommodate.
            CONFLICT MANAGEMENT:
The coaches are always open to discuss any issues, however, there is an appropriate time and place. Please reach out to the coach before or after practice/competition times and follow the appropriate procedures:
            Step 1: Coach/Dancer
            Step 2: Coach/Dancer/Parent
            Step 3: Coach/Dancer/Parent, and Owners

            Parental Role/Support:
Parental support is a necessity for any team to be successful and we value our team parents. We have several opportunities for parents to get involved. We will put together a couple committees for parents to assist with fundraisers, team builders, and the end of year banquet. We appreciate all parents playing an active role so that no individual parents are responsible for everything throughout the year.
If parents have any questions of concerns, please feel free to reach out to one of the owners of the team, Damon or Donisha Richardson to schedule a time to speak privately about any matters. Confronting coaches/owners during scheduled practice time or competitions is unacceptable.

            MORAL AND ETHICAL VALUES:
Certain standards are necessary for the integrity and reputation of any organization. PARTICIPATION WITH REIGN KC IS A PRIVILEDGE which carries with it responsibilities to the team and the community. Therefore, a dancer should NEVER be smoking, drinking, or using any illegal drug during or outside of team time. They should avoid inappropriate posts on social media. Remember your attitude and behavior is a reflection of your squad and the entire team.
            DEMERIT SYSTEM:
An important component of any program is accountability. Each dancer should be able to count on their team members to be where they need to be always.  To ensure this, we will now be using a demerit system. Demerits are not negative but are used to ensure that everyone is held to the same standards.

            Reasons for demerits and amounts:
Unexcused absence that was NOT properly communicated (i.e. no call, no show) with coaches. (3)
Unexcused absence that was properly communicated in advance with the coaches (2).
Insubordinate/disrespectful behavior towards coaching staff or other team members (2).
Missing or not participating in a required fundraiser/money making event (3)
Lack of team support, negative attitude/ inappropriate social media posts (3)
PDA or cursing in uniform (2)
Arriving late or leaving early, unexcused (1)
            Late pick-up (past 5 minutes) (1)
            Late/Missing dance fees (2)
Wrong, incomplete, or not wearing assigned uniform to school on required performances/practice (1)

            BENCHING/DISSMISSAL
At 6 demerits you will be benched for one performance/comp. For every 4 additional demerits after you will be benched for the following performance/comp. If you receive 16 demerits in any one of the 2 seasons you will be dismissed from the team. Spring/Summer, Fall Winter are the two seasons. If you are a captain/co-captain and you reach 10 demerits during the season, you will be asked to step down.
