  • 1,000 Hours a Year Initiative: Addressing Lead and Radon in Learning Environments

    Intake Form FY 26.

  • Please fill out the following questions as accurately and as thoroughly as possible in the space provided. Priority will be given to schools and early learning centers in Allegheny County that have not previously used this grant. Applications will be reviewed quarterly. Awardees will be notified of their application status by:

    • September 30, 2025
    • December 31, 2025
    • March 30, 2026
    • June 30, 2026

    At this time we are no longer offering lead in water testing. Women for a Healthy Environment is using a "filter first" approach and currently offering water fountain upgrades to schools and early learning centers that apply. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection is offering grant funding to eligible schools and child care centers in Pennsylvania for lead in water reduction activities including testing and plumbing repair.
