• Your Story Matters Participation Form

  • Now more than ever, your voice needs to be heard. The Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) has commited to refunding employers 1.5 billion dollars in surplus funds they have accumulated that should be going towards injured and ill workers like you, and your families. That is what those funds were intended for! We want to help raise pubic awareness of the egregious decision this is on the part of the WSIB and the Ontario Goverment! 

    The following will explain how you can participate and the details pertaining to your participation should you be selected.    

    How your story will be promoted

    In order to get maximum views, your story will be available on our YouTube channel and will be promoted to mainstream media outlets, injured worker support groups throughout Ontario, trade unions and our membership. You will be provided with a link to share with your family and friends as well.

    Release Form

    Should you be selected to be interviewed, you will be required to sign a Consent & Release Form, authorizing us to promote your story. 

    Thank You Gift

    If you are selected to be interviewed for your story, we will give you $50 to help you in this time of need, or donate it to a charity of your choosing. You will also be provided with a one year full membership WSIB Essentials Power Plan where you will be able to enjoy the benefits of our tools to help you with your WSIB matters.

  • Story Topics & Descriptions

  • The following topics have been selected as they will bring to light the tragic fate that many injured and ill workers have suffered as a result of a system that has failed them and their families. Please select from the following topics the one that more closely applies to your situation.

    Addiction 

     

    Family Break-up

    Someone who became addicted to opioids as a result of their work injury or illness.

     

    Someone whose family was broken up as a result of a work injury or illness and the WSIB's failure to support them.

    Homelessness

     

    Suicide

    An injured or ill worker who experienced homelessness as a result of a claim that was denied or due to significant delays in a decision by the WSIB.   A family or friend's story about a loved one who took their own life as a result of dealings with the WSIB and a denied claim.


    Discrimination

     

    Abuse of Power

    An injured or ill worker who felt they were mistreated by the WSIB due to their age, education, ethnicity, or disability.

      An injured or ill worker who was mistreated and felt subjected to abuse by a WSIB decision-maker with the WSIB. 

    Psychological Victimization

     

    Denied Medical Treatment

    An injured or ill worker who believes their dealings with WSIB staff caused them to seek counseling.  

     

      Someone whose condition deteriorated as a result of being denied medical treatment and being forced back to work against the advice of their doctors.

    Threats & Intimidation

     

    Death 

    An injured or ill worker who was threatened into going back to work or losing their benefits, against a doctor's recommendation, and their condition got worse.

     

    A story by a family member of an injured or ill worker who died as a result of a work accident or illness, but whose claim was denied or was still waiting for a WSIB decision at the time of their death.
