Background:
The Field of Interest grant program is designed to support specific causes, populations, or geographic areas. Each fund reflects the unique passions and interests of the donors who established it. Generally, applications are available in September and February of each year.
Who is Eligible to Apply?
Grants are available for:
- 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organizations: These are public charities with tax-exempt status.
- Educational Institutions: Schools and other educational groups.
- Governmental Institutions: Local governments like townships, counties, and villages.
- Religious Institutions: Churches and similar organizations.
Note:
- Grants cannot be given to individuals.
- Grants must be used for charitable purposes.
- Grants should support programs or projects in Keweenaw and Houghton Counties - unless stated otherwise.
- Grants must follow the KCF non-discrimination policy.
- Grants cannot be used for political campaigns or to influence government decisions.
If your proposal fits the scope of more than one fund, please check multiple boxes, and you will be considered for all selected. If you wish to submit proposals for different programs, please submit a form for each separate proposal.

Important Dates:
- February 1, 2025: Online applications open.
- March 16, 2025, at 11:30 pm ET: Deadline to submit your online application.
- Late April: We will notify grant recipients.
- Mid-May: Grant awards will be announced publicly.
All projects should take place within one year of the award.
