Dog Foster Protocol, Agreement and Release (Please read all before signing)
All Dog Fosters MUST have Dog Foster application and the Dog Foster Protocol, Agreement and Release filled out and signed before a dog will be released to his or her care.
All dogs who enter foster care have been temperament tested. Although not typical, if a dog has failed any part of their temperament test, this issue has been discussed by Bully Rescue of New Jersey Inc. prior to the dogs placement with the foster and the foster has been informed of the issue and agreed to foster and work with the dog despite the issue .
Dog fosters should at least be willing to walk their dogs or provide alternate forms of adequate exercise and socialization. This is very important as physical stimulation helps to solve a lot of behavioral problems.
Dog fosters are responsible for and liable for their foster dog. Fosters need to be prepared for instances that can occur such as your foster not getting a long with another pet in your home and being careful when you have other people visiting your home. Board members are available to discuss any possible problems that arise or are concerns. Please remember that in the role of foster family, fosters are asked to help their dogs decompress and succeed in new situations.
Foster dogs should be crated when no one is home, especially if the family has other animals or children in the home. For the first couple of weeks dogs should always be monitored and never left unattended for long periods of time.
Foster dogs should be fed separately from your household pets, this can be done inside the crate as well or in a separate room or gated space. Foster dogs need to have “their own space” as everything is still new to them. If you do not have a crate, Bully Rescue of New Jersey Inc. will supply one to you.
Foster dogs must always be walked on leash and are not allowed to go to dog parks, NO EXCEPTIONS.
Please notify Bully Rescue of New Jersey Inc. if you think there is a behavioral issue that you think may need the attention of our trainer.
Dog fosters must be available some weekends when we have events. Fosters are responsible for bringing dogs to the event and staying with them.
There is no way we can tell you how long you will have your foster dog, please plan for a minimum of 8 weeks to a few months, please make sure you are aware of this before deciding to foster.
If a particular dog is not a good fit we will always try our hardest to move them to a different foster home although many times our only option is the dog going back to the shelter. Fostering is a real commitment on your part and we will always try to help you in any way we can.
I understand and agree that if I am unable to no longer care for the dog(s) anymore that I will contact and return the dog(s) to Bully Rescue of New Jersey Inc. and try to give Bully Rescue of New Jersey Inc. a 2 week period to try and find a suitable foster or adopter for the dog(s). I will NOT bring the dog(s) to a shelter or abandon it/them.
