Requirements

• Current Certificate of Competence from the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
• Gerontology Certificate preferred.
• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
• Must have completed TB screening.
• Knowledge of RAI-MDS.
• Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices, as well as knowledge in Infection Control Practices.
• Effective human relation skills and demonstrated commitment to working with seniors.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential.

Job Description

Clinical Care:

• Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
• Monitoring and assessing residents' health conditions, including vital signs and overall well-being.
• Performing wound care, dressing changes, and basic medical procedures within their scope of practice.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

• Maintaining accurate and updated resident records, including care plans and medication administration records.
• Documenting any changes in residents' condition and reporting to the RN or healthcare team.

Patient Support and Education:

• Providing emotional support and comfort to residents and their families.
• Educating residents and families on health conditions, medications, and post-discharge care.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Collaborating with RNs, physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated resident care.
• Communicating effectively with the healthcare team to report residents' status and any concerns.

Assisting in Care Planning:

• Participating in the development and implementation of care plans for residents.
• Contributing insights and observations to the care planning process.

Safety and Compliance:

• Ensuring adherence to safety protocols and infection control measures within the long-term care facility.
• Following regulatory guidelines and standards of practice set by the province and healthcare institution.
