Requirements
- Current Certificate of Competence from the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
- Gerontology Certificate preferred.
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
- Must have completed TB screening.
- Knowledge of RAI-MDS.
- Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices, as well as knowledge in Infection Control Practices.
- Effective human relation skills and demonstrated commitment to working with seniors.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential.
Job Description
Clinical Care:
- Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Monitoring and assessing residents' health conditions, including vital signs and overall well-being.
- Performing wound care, dressing changes, and basic medical procedures within their scope of practice.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintaining accurate and updated resident records, including care plans and medication administration records.
- Documenting any changes in residents' condition and reporting to the RN or healthcare team.
Patient Support and Education:
- Providing emotional support and comfort to residents and their families.
- Educating residents and families on health conditions, medications, and post-discharge care.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborating with RNs, physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated resident care.
- Communicating effectively with the healthcare team to report residents' status and any concerns.
Assisting in Care Planning:
- Participating in the development and implementation of care plans for residents.
- Contributing insights and observations to the care planning process.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensuring adherence to safety protocols and infection control measures within the long-term care facility.
- Following regulatory guidelines and standards of practice set by the province and healthcare institution.
