Get Out of Your Own Way! Enjoy plein air competitions by learning to paint under pressure.
Plein air competitions bring an exciting mix of painting, adventure, and like-minded friends, but can also create a high-pressure environment where self-doubt, frustration, comparison, and dejection creep in. In this workshop, learn all the tools you need to ensure that painting remains a sacred space where exploration, joy, and beauty can thrive. Kelly will share her experiential wisdom on maintaining mental and physical health, creating effective routines, choosing where and what to paint, staying in the moment, leaving room for wonder, embracing relationships, and gracefully handling competition challenges. You’ll walk away knowing how to get out of your own way and keep your heart centered on your art, whether in the field or studio.
We’ll begin lecture-style at the Rec Hall; please bring a cozy afternoon drink to go with the “World’s Best Donuts” that Kelly will provide. From there, we’ll venture out together for a demonstration of her plein air oil painting process keeping all of these components in mind.
