English and Maths are two discrete subjects.

Sometimes parents have asked me to teach both subjects in one lesson, from experience splitting a lesson for English and Maths doesn't work. Children thrive with clear boundaries and flitting between two subjects dilutes the impact 1:1 tuition can make.

For younger children (EYFS and sometimes Y1- though is dependent on the child) I offer some shorter lesson times appropriate for their age.

From Year Two children have the stamina for the 45 minute session.

Do you have access to a printer? A lot of work is set via online platforms, however I may send work that suits being printed. Again if you do not have a printer I have work arounds.
I advise all clients to avoid using a chromebook. I use Zoom as I find it the best platform to teach on, Google disabled the ability to give remote access to use annotate tools in late 2020 this means I cannot share whiteboards.

Ipads also aren't ideal as the camera feature is disabled whilst screen sharing and taking remote access is tricky.

it is best to work on a laptop or desktop computer, either Windows or Mac.

Graphics tablets immensely enhance online lessons, particularly from Key Stage Two. As well as using Zoom whiteboards, I have a subscription with Bitpaper and assign a paper to my students from KS2 upwards. Having a graphics tablet means that your child and I can work collaboratively together on documents; just as you would on a whiteboard or paper.

For maths tuition I have found this AMAZING. I can observe a student working a calculation and interject at the point of need. This is something I was never able to do with face to face tuition as it would've been far too disarming and uncomfortable for the tutee and I.

All you need is a basic graphics tablet. Most are plug and go and are relatively inexpensive.
