In collaboration with the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHH), through an established partnership with the College of Health and Human Services at Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU), the School of Nursing is pleased to offer a scholarship opportunity to nursing students who demonstrate strong academic achievement and a commitment to entering the nursing workforce within YNHH upon graduation. Selected scholarship recipients will have their senior capstone rotation in one of the YNHH facilities.
Please note that this scholarship is currently available only for the final year of the partnership with YNHH, 2025-2026. It is not guaranteed to be renewed for subsequent years.
Eligibility Requirement
- Minimum cumulative GPA 2.7
- Applicant must be enrolling in nursing courses
- A Junior student applicant’s prerequisite GPA will be taken into consideration
- Demonstrated commitment to work at a YNHH facility upon graduation at one of the YNHHS locations (Yale New Haven Hospital, Bridgeport Hospital, Greenwich Hospital, Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital, Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven, Westerly Hospital, Yale New Haven Psychiatric Hospital, etc)
- Must have a current FAFSA on file to demonstrate financial need
Required Criteria to Maintain Scholarship
- Minimum cumulative GPA 2.7 in nursing
- C+ or greater in all NUR courses
- Participation in CHHS/YNHH workshops
- Meet with the YNHH Scholarship Coordinator and Student Engagement Specialist each semester to ensure all minimum criteria are being met and to ensure academic success in your nursing curriculum
- Graduate on time with your expected cohort
