• Municipal Election Endorsement Questionnaire

    Waterloo Regional Labour Council
  • The Waterloo Regional Labour Council represents 33 union locals with over 26,000 workers in many fields including construction, professional planners, office administrators, health care, teachers, postal workers, and many more. We are committed to building A Stronger Community Together through active participation in the 2022 municipal election. Endorsed candidates will be featured on a WRLC Endorsement Card that will be shared with affiliates and their members before the election.

    As a potential or declared candidate, please complete this survey to help us evaluate your candidacy as a WRLC-endorsed candidate. We would very much appreciate you taking the time to complete it. All completed surveys will be reviewed by the WRLC Municipal Election Committee and approved by the Labour Council Executive.

    This questionnaire will close on Friday, August 29 and all endorsed candidates will be informed on Friday, September 2 at noon. Endorsed candidates will be invited to attend and/or volunteer to BBQ at the WRLC Labour Day Picnic on Monday, September 5 from 12-4 pm.

    Please note that we will not be interviewing candidates this year and endorsement decisions will be based solely upon the questionnaire responses, labour movement involvement and past involvement/voting record in municipal government.

    In your responses, please be sure to be clear and concise. Please note that your responses may be made publicly available.

  • As part of the endorsement process, the committee will be considering the candidates:

    • Role in the community, such as past activities and public exposure;
    • Leadership qualities and experience;
    • Past experiences with Canada’s Labour Movement and any related experience with unions;
