  • GRANT PROPOSAL GUIDELINES

  • I.   Overview of The Rotary Foundation of Washington DC

Vision: As the Foundation of the Rotary Club of Washington, DC, we promote peace and the well-being of people and communities through service within the metropolitan area and across the globe.

Mission: Through charitable giving, we support our Club and its partners in their service activities with vulnerable populations, in our community and around the world, working together at the grass-roots level to foster economic opportunity, justice and equity, education and literacy, health, and a sustainable environment.

II.   Overview of the DC Rotary Foundation Centennial Grant

The Rotary Club of Washington DC (“DC Rotary Club”) established the Rotary Foundation of Washington DC ("the Foundation") in 1922 to engage in works of charity. This year the Foundation celebrates its 100th year of dedicated support to non-profit organizations engaged in a wide range of charitable community development activities. In honor of this milestone, the DC Rotary Club and its Foundation are providing a one-time Centennial Grant of $100,000 to benefit Metropolitan DC residents in the thematic areas of 'Saving Mothers and Children' and/or 'Supporting Education'.

Note: In addition to this special Centennial Grant, the Foundation will also conduct its usual grant application cycle in Early 2023, soliciting applications for small grants $1,000 - $5,000 benefitting the Washington DC metropolitan area. As usual, the application for the regular grant cycle will go live December 1 and close January 31.

    II.   Areas of Focus

Rotary International has seven pillars of focus to address global needs and direct its resources. The Rotary Foundation of Washington DC has narrowed the scope of the Centennial Grant to the following two areas of focus, as described by Rotary International:

Saving Mothers and Children - Rotary makes high-quality health care available to vulnerable mothers and children so they can live longer and grow stronger. We expand access to quality care, so mothers and children everywhere can have the same opportunities for a healthy future.

Supporting Education - Our goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy. We support education for all children and literacy for children and adults.

The proposed project must be designed to directly benefit residents of the greater Washington, DC area and primarily residents of Washington, DC itself.
