Internship Outline:
The STEM Chicas Internship is a 10-week internship program that takes place at a local elementary school and at the Children's Science Center Lab, located at the Fair Oaks Mall.
The STEM Chicas program operates weekly on Friday evenings. Interns will work from 3:45pm-7:00pm. The STEM Chicas Intern will be required to attend all aspects of the program including:
- Orientation: September 26, 2024, 5:30-6:30 at John D. Jenkins Elementary school
- STEM Chicas Program: October 4-November 22, 2024
- Lab Exploration Day at the Children's Science Center: December 6, 2024, 6:00-8:00
- Follow up Session: TBD
The Children’s Science Center will provide all necessary curriculum activities and a snack each week. The addresses for the Fall 2024 Semester are:
- John D. Jenkins Elementary School (4060 Prince William Parkway, Woodbridge, VA 22192)
- Children's Science Center Lab (11948L Fair Oaks Mall, Fairfax VA 22033)
Transportation:
Children's Science Center staff will use the ChildSci van to commute to the elementary school from the business office, 3957 Pender Dr. Fairfax, VA 22030. Staff will leave the office at 3:10 PM. The Latina SciGirls Intern can carpool with staff or drive themselves. If choosing to drive themselves, the intern will be required to arrive no later than 3:45PM at the school, but please note that parking might be challenging, as school dismisses at 4:00.

Applications are due by 5:00 pm on August 12th, 2024. Interview invitations will be sent on or before August 23. All applicants will be notified about their status.
