Session 1 - Learn about Drink Local Drink Tap's local and global water mission. Unpack large concepts like the importance of water, micro-plastics, and the World Water Crisis. Session 2 - Unit 1 Lesson 3: "Do You Know The 7 R's" It's time to take individual action! Learn about tangible interventions for single-use plastic waste. Get your classroom busy by following our demonstration crafting their very own repurposed t-shirt bags. Dream up new ways to prioritize sustainability in your school community and at home. Session 3 - Unit 1 Lesson 5: "Microplastics: Tiny Trouble" Our educator will lead an interactive lesson focusing on the issue of plastics and micro-plastics in bodies of water. Session 4 - Unit 2 Lesson 2: "Intro to WASH (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene)" Take a deep dive into understanding the network of public and government sector organizations who collaborate to improve water access. Session 5 - Unit 3 Lesson 5: "Water Security + Climate Change Wavemaker" Participate in a group dialog about the our ability to create change. Experience our founder, Erin Huber's, journey to make an impact in "Making Waves: From Cleveland to Uganda (2012)" [26:12 Duration]. Determine your strengths as a Wavemaker by working individually or in groups to draft a Public Service Announcement about water issues. Fundraise 4 Clean Water within Your Classroom: Wavemakers have built numerous wells and toilets at rural schools in Uganda through fundraising. Make waves globally while helping others access clean water and sanitation through DLDT’s projects! [All Year Long]
"Make Waves 4 Change: Develop Your Action Plan to Change The World" Book: Teen learners can explore their strengths and interests, gain media literacy, develop an action plan and grow a network to impact a problem they care about. No action is too big or small! Training for teachers is available and teaching guides will be provided to participating educators. [All Year Long]
Drink Local Drink Tap's 16th Annual World Water Day - The United Nation's World Water Day is a day that highlights the importance of fresh water. In Partnership with the Great Lakes Science Center, Drink Local Drink Tap will provide Wavemakers with engaging programming, opportunities to raise their voices, and a celebration to raise awareness for the human right to clean water. We invite your classroom to join us this year for an in-person celebration. [In-Person, March 21st, 2025]
