Upon signing this registration form, you agree to the terms and conditions of Brittens Music School set out below:
Terms and Conditions: July 2024
Terms and Conditions - Brittens Music School
Lessons cost £25 for a 30 minute lesson, and £22 for additional members of the same household/second and subsequent instruments.
Students are expected to purchase or hire a suitable instrument for private practice. A discount allowance will be set up on commencement of lessons entitling the account holder to 10% off full price purchases of sheet music and accessories in store (excludes workshop labour and Yamaha products).
Lessons take place on a weekly basis, excluding half term; each lesson lasts for 30 minutes and is on a one-to-one basis unless otherwise agreed. Lessons do not take place during the Easter, Summer or Christmas holidays. Please refer to the school schedule for the lesson dates for the current term.
Each term consists of 12 lessons unless otherwise stated. Occasionally we may vary this to take into account local school term times and Public Holidays.
Lessons due to take place on Bank Holidays will be taken into account during invoicing or credited or rescheduled as the school will not operate on these days. Please ask your teacher for individual arrangements.
Lessons are invoiced four weeks in advance of the commencement of term, with termly and half-termly payments due before lessons commence for the term to which they apply.
Lesson fees can be paid by BACS or alternatively at the main shop by credit/debit card, or cash. If fees remain unpaid (and you have not contacted us to arrange a payment plan) by the third lesson in a term, lessons will be suspended until payment is received. We will endeavour, but cannot always guarantee, to hold the same time slot upon re-commencing lessons in these cases.
Students are expected to attend all lessons within each term. Credits can only be given if the lesson is cancelled by the teacher or Brittens. Any lessons which are cancelled by the teacher and which fail to be “caught up” before the end of the term will be credited against the fees for the following term. When this occurs after a student has given notice a refund will be made at the end of their notice period.
Lessons will normally take place at the same time each week, unless otherwise agreed. Please let your teacher know if you have any specific requirements and we will do our best to accommodate them.
If the student wishes to withdraw from lessons, then written notice (by email) must be received by the Music School Administrator no later than 4 weeks before the end of the current term. In the event of the student not wishing to continue lessons during this notice period, the fees for the term will still be payable in full.
Each new student will be committed to an initial period of one term (or the remainder of). In the penultimate lesson of the FIRST TERM either the student or teacher may give notice with no penalty.
Students are expected to behave appropriately during lessons and in the public areas of the School. Teachers have the right to remove disruptive students from lessons, particularly if their behaviour impacts on other students. Should this occur, a full written explanation must be provided by the teacher.
Because of the nature of one-to-one and group music lessons and the obvious proximity to teachers, other students and direct contact with the instruments, sick students should refrain from attending classes/lessons until they are no longer contagious. This also applies to students who are symptomatic of or test positive for Covid-19. Brittens Music School reserves the right, without refund of School fees, to send a student home if they are obviously unwell.
It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that Brittens Music School has their correct contact details at all times.
Attendance of lessons will constitute acceptance of these terms.
