• Pathways to Education Internship Application — Spring 2027

  •

New College of Florida is proud to offer work-based learning in education through Pathways to Education, a for-credit internship program with three tracks. Each track looks at education from a different level: the individual classroom, the institution, and the system.

Applications are due no later than 11:59 PM on Friday, November 13, 2026.

Spots are limited. Submitting an application does not guarantee a placement, and placement preferences are not guaranteed. Internships include a New College–funded stipend.

    The Three Tracks
Track 1: Micro (K-12 Classroom Teaching) Work directly with students in a K-12 classroom under the supervision of a certified teacher. Placements are at partner schools in the School District of Manatee County (K-12), Sarasota County Schools (K-12), or Dreamers Academy, a Spanish immersion charter school (K-5). This track prepares students for full-time teaching in private schools, early childhood settings, or alternative certification routes.

Track 2: Meso (Higher Education & Nontraditional Learning Settings) Support learning outside the K-12 classroom. Placements are either in a functional area on New College's campus or in a nontraditional educational setting.

Campus functional areas may include: The Career Center, Admissions, Student Affairs/Residence Life, etc.
Nontraditional settings may include [e.g., community nonprofits, youth programs, Teen Court of Sarasota, and environmental education].
This track prepares students for careers in student affairs, higher education administration, and community or informal education.

Track 3: Macro (Education Policy & Administration) Examine how education systems are led, funded, and governed. Placements are in school or district administration, education policy, or education-focused organizations [confirm sites]. This track prepares students for careers in educational leadership, policy analysis, and advocacy.

    Eligibility
All tracks are open to New College students who have completed:

Two years of postsecondary education (an AA, or at least third-year/junior standing), and are currently in good academic standing; and
At least one relevant New College course (1 unit/4 credit hours) related to teaching, pedagogy, learning, or education, or a high-impact practice that has prepared them for an educational setting (e.g., a prior internship, research, or tutoring/mentoring role).
