Alpine Climbing Experience

Please list 7 alpine multi-pitch trad climbs that demonstrate your climbing abilities. The listed climbs should capture a minimum of 3 years of experience. When filling out your role, a leader would be someone who helped make decisions, led some of the rock, helped navigate, etc. You don't need to have been the solo lead. A participant is someone who was on a club climb (Mountaineers, Boealps etc.), guided climb or did not contribute significantly to the planning/decision-making. Please only list trad multi- pitch climbs, they can be climbs from anywhere in the world (not just WA state). Please prioritize alpine climbs. Mountaineering and Glacier Experience

Please list 7 climbs which demonstrate the breadth of your mountaineering experience and ability to manage complex terrain/conditions. The listed trips should capture a minimum of 3 years experience. Please only list technical climbs (Mt. Adams South side is an example of a non technical climb, Bonanza would be an example of a technical glacier climb). Please demonstrate the ability to travel on steep snow (ice climbing isn't required but feel free to list them if you have them).

Please give us specific examples that help us get to know you! We aren't evaluating your writing abilities, but we do expect you to write your answers (do not use AI to entirely write your responses). Responses should be 1-4 paragraphs in length
Take a moment to consider why now is the right time for you to apply to SMR. Do you have enough free time? Missions typically come up at the most inconvenient times. We ask members to attend multiple full and half day trainings, respond to a minimum of 5 missions per year (goal is 10) and get involved with committees and leadership (we need members to do more than just missions). Do you have competing commitments that may prevent you from responding to missions or trainings? When do you envision yourself being able to respond to missions (e.g. is your work flexible? Are you free/not on personal trips most weekends? Are you free most evenings?)? How long do you plan on living in King County?
Tell us about a time when a trip did not go according to plan. What steps did you take and what was the outcome? What did you learn from the experience?
Why do you want to join? How do you foresee your unique skills, attributes and abilities contributing to SMR?
In 6 to 8 sentences tell us about a specific time when you had to deal with conflict. Either with another person or a group of people (could be an incident from a climb or from your professional or personal life). Describe the situation, the actions you took, outcome, resolution and what you learned.
