Diversity Equity Inclusion Leader of the Year Award Description
This award celebrates firm-level ideas, initiatives and/or campaigns that have measurably contributed to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion within the workplace. Initiatives could include:
Recruitment and retention initiatives:
• Recruitment examples include where job ads are posted, and where candidate relationship-building is done such as partnering with HBCU’s, or hiring outside non-profit programs (such as CREST, CORE, or Project REAP) to facilitate internships for students of color, etc. Retention examples include processes such as Stay Interviews.
Mentorship programs and partnerships to support a more diverse workforce:
• Mentorship examples include paring minority staff with senior leadership, supporting Employee Resource Groups, etc.
Fostering equality of opportunity within the company culture:
• Examples include transparent pathways to climb the career ladder, as well as tracking demographic and compensation data
Initiatives that actively address unconscious bias in corporate decision making:
• Examples include training and team-building exercises
Strategies to increase the visible minority representation at your firm:
• Examples include cultivating leadership opportunities for minority staff, providing client-facing exposure and tapping minority staff for speaking engagements/industry events.
