My signature below indicates that I agree to:
- Accompany the youth rider at all times while occupying a Rideshare vehicle.
- Properly secure the youth rider as required by RCW 46.61.687 and be responsible for knowing any updates to this law. Youth riders are required by law to ride in the back seat of the vehicle until they are older than 13 years of age.
- Ensure the youth rider's behavior is in compliance with the day-to-day operating rules established by Pierce Transit.
My signature below indicates that I understand:
- Pierce Transit is operating a public transportation program for all members of the public. Pierce Transit is not conducting criminal background checks on the other occupants of the Rideshare vehicle and is not responsible for their behavior. Supervision of the youth rider is the parent/legal guardian’s responsibility. If parent/legal guardian cannot accompany the youth rider, then the youth rider should not ride in the vehicle.
- Even though Pierce Transit requires the parent/legal guardian to be responsible for the proper securement of the youth rider, the driver of the vehicle could receive a citation if the youth rider is not properly secured. Therefore, any driver/backup driver complaint regarding lack of proper securement or a citation due to improper securement shall result in the expulsion of the parent/legal guardian and the youth rider.
- The Rideshare vehicle used in this program is not a school bus. It does not meet, and is not required to meet, the strict safety requirements legislated for a school bus.
