This is a drop-off class. Ages 5-10. Please meet in the classroom. Come dressed to explore the outdoors. Fee: $5 plus membership or admission to the Garden. If you register for 4 or more Afterschool classes at one time you can receive a discounted $3 per class price (must be on one registration form).
Migrations September 7th 4-5 pm
Many animals migrate hundreds and sometimes thousands of miles across deserts, oceans, forests, or grasslands to find their way to specific locations they’ve sometimes never previously visited. How do these animals find their way? Find out in our first afterschool class of the year.
Sensational Spiders September 21st 4-5 pm
Learn how spiders weave their complicated webs and use vibrations to sense their prey. We’ll make a spider craft and use spray bottles to reveal webs found out in the Garden.
Endangered Animals September 28th 4-5 pm
Learn how we can help endangered animals and enjoy an endangered animal scavenger hunt.
Super Power Plants October 5 th 4-5 pm
Plants have amazing adaptations or super powers that help them survive everywhere from deserts to swamps, to the open ocean. In this class we’ll learn about some of the superpowers of plants and look at plants in the Garden including Venus fly traps, pitcher plants, lotus flowers, cacti, and staghorn ferns.
Frogs and Toads October 12th 4-5 pm
Don’t worry! Toads can’t give you warts, but they do have poison glands behind their eyes. Learn more about the myths and realities of frogs and toads in this afterschool class which will include a frog themed game.
Birds of Prey October 19th 4-5 pm
Fall is the season of hawk migrations making birds of prey more visible across the state. In this afterschool class, we’ll learn about these magnificent animals and make a hovering hawk craft.
