Mustang Cross Country is classified as a Fall Sport by the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA). Practices are immediately after school most weekdays with an occasional Saturday practice. Most meets are on Saturday mornings, but some are conducted on weekday afternoons (usually Tuesdays or Thursdays). Metro and Sectional Championships take place on weekdays, and the State Championship is usually the second Saturday in November at the historic Jesse Owens Course in the Danville, AL area. All championship meets (Metro, Sectional, & State) have qualification requirements

Mustang Indoor Track & Field (ITF) is classified as a Winter Sport by the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA). Pre-season conditioning begins in mid-November, with the first meet of the season generally scheduled for the first weekend in December. Preseason conditioning and practices are weekdays immediately after school. All ITF meets are at the Birmingham Crossplex (one of the two premiere indoor track & field complexes in the US and host to SoCon, SEC, & NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships), which is about 1 1/2 hours from the school.

Mustang Outdoor Track & Field (OTF) is classified as a Spring Sport by the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA). Preseason begins in mid-February, with the first meet of the season generally scheduled for the last weekend in February or the first weekend in March. Preseason conditioning and practices are weekdays immediately after school. Madison Academy athletes competes in 6 meets plus the Metro Championship, Sectional Championship, and AHSAA State Championship meets. The Metro and Sectional Championship meets are usually on weekdays.

The following events are offered for competition in OTF: 100m, 110m/110m Hurdles, 200m, 300m Hurdles, 400m, 800m, 1600m, 3200m, 4X100m Relay Team, 4X400m Relay Team, 4X800m Relay Team, Pole Vault, High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, Javelin, and Discus

Mustang Youth Track and Field is classified as a Spring Sport by the Huntsville Independent School League (HISL). Athletes in grades four through six are eligible to compete in this league. Participating schools are as follows: Grace Lutheran, Holy Family, Holy Spirit, Madison Academy, Oakwood Academy, Randolph, St. John, Westminster, and Whitesburg Christian. Practice will be held three days a week from 2:45pm-3:45pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at the Track and Field Complex. There will be occasional Friday practices, if needed.

3)  Next upload your child’s current physical form from the doctor. The pre-participation physical examination form will be where you upload the front of the physical. Please be sure this is dated and signed by a parent and the athlete. The physical examination box will be for the back page of the physical that is signed by the doctor.

4) Electronically sign the Concussion form - Parent and child.

5) Electronically sign the participant agreement, consent, release and venue - Parent and child.

New Students Steps

New Student Athlete/Upcoming 7th Graders Packet

Welcome to Madison Academy Athletics. Here you will find the steps to complete the eligibility process to participate in a sport at MA.

1) Create a Dragonfly account found here. (Please remember your password as you will need to access this site every year)

2) Once you have created the account, fill out the medical and demographic information.

3) Next upload your child’s physical form from the doctor. (If you do not have a current physical, you can find the physical form that you will need to take with you to the doctor in Dragonfly.). The pre-participation physical examination form will be where you upload the front of the physical. Please be sure this is dated and signed by a parent and the athlete. The physical examination box will be for the back page of the physical that is signed by the doctor.

4) Upload a copy of your child’s birth certificate.

5) Upload a copy of your child’s NFHS Sportsmanship certificate. If your child has not completed this course, you can find it here. It only takes about 20 minutes to complete.

6) Electronically sign the Concussion form - Parent and child.

7) Electronically sign the participant agreement, consent, release and venue - Parent and child.

UNIFORM SECTION

The uniform singlet is the property of the MA Finish Line Club.  A uniform rental fee is included in each athlete’s base fee. Uniform singlet must be returned to the MA FLC at the end of the season in good condition to avoid penalty charges. Unreturned or damaged singlet is subject to a $65 replacement fee. All other uniform components are the property of the athlete. Re-enrollment privileges and transcripts may also be suspended until athletic obligations are met.
