This application is for ordained and provisional elders and deacons, associate members, and licensed local pastors who are looking to serve beyond the local church in places outside of the United Methodist Connection. Once your application is complete it will be sent to Clergy Excellence and the Extension Committee of the Board of Ordained Ministry. Rev. Jessie Colwell, the Director of Clergy Excellence will be in contact with you to give you more information and schedule an interview with the Extension Committee of the Board of Ordained Ministry.

Letter to Bishop requesting Extension Appointment copying your District Superintendent and the Center for Clergy Excellence.

If the institution or agency is located in another episcopal area, the bishop of that area shall also be consulted. For military chaplains, the United Methodist Endorsing Agency makes this request following endorsement.

For appointment requests to a non-United Methodist/ecumenical agency, a review of the ministry setting and recommendation from the Board of Ordained Ministry is required prior to the appointment (2016 BOD paragraph 344.1d,d and 331.4a). The Extension Ministry will make their recommendation to the Board based on your interview, the ministry setting information you provide, and your written materials.
