Creative Leadership Academy: Internship
Position Summary
The CLA Internship at E4 Youth offers an immersive experience and professional development in the creative sector, with two distinct tracks for interns to choose from: Get Creative Club or What Once Was (WOW). Interns will have the opportunity to support E4 Youth initiatives through their selected track, allowing them to explore career paths aligned with their skills and interests. Whether engaging with the Get Creative Club programming or contributing to the WOW platform, CLA Interns will build their portfolios, gain valuable industry insights, and network with professionals. This internship aims to equip participants with the skills and experience necessary for future success in the creative field.
Position Responsibilities
Get Creative Clubs
Mentorship and Role Modeling
- Serve as a role model and mentor to high school students in the Get Creative Clubs.
- Provide students guidance, support, and encouragement as they explore creative and professional opportunities.
Curriculum Facilitation
- Collaborate with teachers to facilitate the employability curriculum for Get Creative Club students.
- Focus on teaching soft skills such as critical thinking, team building, and media literacy.
- Integrate creative and technical skills into the curriculum to enhance student learning.
Student Evaluation and Feedback
- Coach and evaluate students as they develop creative projects and portfolios.
Provide constructive written feedback to help students improve their work and achieve their creative goals.
What Once Was (WOW)
Technical and Creative Skills Support
- Utilize immersive media production (VR/AR) skills, audio/video production, visual design, journalism, photography, coding, web/application development, music composition/production, media production, writing, public speaking, and event planning to support classroom activities.
- Provide hands-on assistance and demonstrations in these areas to enrich the student learning experience.
Team Collaboration
- Actively participate in weekly meetings with E4 Youth employees
Attend networking events to cultivate, maintain, and expand relationships with industry, school partners, and sister non-profit organizations.
- Subsequently, candidates will design and implement multiple networking strategies, attending as many networking events as frequently as needed to meet marketing and communications goals and KPIs effectively.
- Participate in and attend all E4 Youth Annual events, fostering connections with key stakeholders, sponsors, and community partners.
- As part of this role, candidates are expected to attend our annual events, including Showcase, SXSW, Summer Training, and E4 events designed by
- Corporate Sponsors. Please note that additional events may be added with a minimum notice of 2-3 weeks, reflecting our commitment to growth and seizing opportunities as they arise.
Portfolio Development
- Have a high-quality portfolio that is continuously being updated
Portfolios must maintain a rating of 3 and above.
- E4 staff commit to having their portfolios reviewed by professionals at least 4 times a year.
Qualifications
- College-age
- Online portfolio and resume
- Experience mentoring and coaching younger students (preferred)
- Strong writing, communication, and creative problem solving skills (preferred)
- Experience in immersive media production, audio/video production, visual design, journalism, coding, web/application development, music composition and/or production, media production, writing, public speaking, and event planning (preferred)
Position Details
Part-time, 10 hours per week
