Angel Tree Ministry
Each craft day fundraiser is organized by the CrossRoads United Methodist Church Angel Tree Ministry Team. We'd like to share some background information so that you are aware just how important your participation is and where your donations are distributed and very much appreciated.
Your $5 donation each fundraiser (other than our 2 "special" fundraisers, which are $30) is part of the grand total raised to assure that disadvantaged families in our community experience enhanced holidays. It is a stark reality that these recipients may not be able to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas without our collaborative endeavors.
In 2018, 13 families were delivered all the essentials for a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Those same families, at Christmas time, received a Walmart gift card and at least 2 gifts per family member. Our Angel Tree Ministry and a few generous volunteers spent time reviewing the recipient's wish lists. Then we shopped with the raised funds. A couple of 'wrapping events' allowed us to provide presents to place under their tree. There were 14 families in 2019 and 10 in 2020. In 2020, 29 individuals received a minimum of 2 gifts each. In 2021, we assisted a dozen families. And we are happy to say that we were able to assist 18 families in 2022. In 2023, we provided 12 full Thanksgiving meals and gifts for 2 adults and 20 children, ages 1 month to 14 years of age with Christmas presents. Our adopted families, as well as the community, were invited to our Cookies with Santa event.
With this snapshot of our Angel Tree Ministry, we hope you have an understanding of how very essential you and your donations are in assuring that CrossRoads United Methodist Church is enriching our community. In addition, we'd like to thank you for your friendship. With sincerity, we thank you for sharing your crafting time and talents with us and pray that your life is enriched through this ministry. God bless you.
