Cross Country Registration 2022

St. Joseph School Cross Country is open to both boys and girls, grades 4 thru 8.

Coaches: Mr. Mike McDermott and Mr. Jim Neil

Cross Country meets are on Wednesdays at Goddard Park. The schedule is as follows:

September 7, boys at 4:30, girls at 5:30
September 14, girls at 4:30, boys at 5:30
September 21, boys at 4:30, girls at 5:30
September 28, girls at 4:30, boys at 5:30
October 5, boys at 4:30, girls at 5:30

The state meet is going to be October 12 at Slater Park in Pawtucket, starting at 4 o'clock, with the girls running first.

Practice will begin the first week of September with a full practice on Monday nights at 5:30 in West Warwick and a more informal practice on Friday nights at 5:30; we'll probably mix up the locations of those.

One thing this year is different: CAL is allowing us to have a "B" meet on Wednesdays before the main meet -- so probably at 4 p.m. -- for fourth and fifth graders, on a shorter course. They've done those in the past but not during the last couple years because of COVID and wanting to keep the number of people at meets under control.

We are excited our 4th and 5th graders will have this opportunity.

Deadline for sign up is Monday, August 22.

    Registration fee: $50

Student Athlete Code of Conduct Contract

It is a priviledge, not a right, to represent your school in athletic competition. You are expected to follow all rules and regulations of  your school and the Catholic Athletic League (CAL). You and your parent/guardian must sign the player guideline contract below to be eligible to play.

    REQUIREMENTS:
    1. Maintain academic eligibility set by Saint Joseph School.
    2. Parents must sign the CAL Assumption of Risk Form and the Parent Code of Conduct Form.
    3. Basketball and Cheerleading uniforms are the property of the school. If the entire uniform is
not returned at the end of the season in good condition (i.e. – without tears, rips, stains,
peeling lettering/numbers; in condition to be re-issued next year), parents will be billed
$75 on the family’s FACTS account to replace the uniform. Until uniforms are either
handed in or reimbursed for, the student will not be issued another team uniform/allowed to
participate in another CAL sport at SJS.
    4. Players must attend school regularly. On days athletes are absent from school, they are not
eligible to attend or participate in practices or games on that day.
    5. Any and all injuries must be reported to the head coach immediately so that treatment can be
    provided.
    6. Any player ejected from a game will be subject to a one game suspension.
    7. Players need to be on time to practices and games. If a player is going to be late or is unable
to attend, either the player or the parent must notify coaches in advance.
    8. Detention and outstanding schoolwork must be completed prior to attending a practice or a
game. Failure to do so will result in suspension from the next game.
    9. Players and parents are expected to demonstrate positive attitudes, good
sportsmanship, teamwork and good Christian values on and off the playing field, court or
    course.
    10. Disrespectful behavior to a teacher, coach, administrator, parent, opposing players, officials or
fellow teammates may be subject for dismissal from the team.
    11. Players who are caught stealing, destroying school or another person’s property, being
dishonest or failing to respect/represent your school in an honorable way may be subject to immediate dismissal from all CAL sports at SJS.
