  •  Positive Reinforcement Disclaimer (foster/adoptive homes)

If Through Your Pets Eyes Rescue learns that aversive or dominance based methods are used in a foster or adoptive home, the rescue will immediately investigate and gently counsel and remind the foster/adoptive home that the rescue only supports force free humane approaches with dogs, recommend the assistance of a force free trainer or behaviour consultant and remind them that insistance on using aversives may result in the dog being pulled from the home.

You will not use aversive devices such as air correctors, vibration, prong or shock collars, shock mats or any devices which emit citronella or ultra sonic or high pitched sounds or shock to deter or teach behaviours.

We do not recommend the use of trainers and behaviour specialists that use aversive or dominance based training methods.

As a rescue that follows positive reinforcement our animals are cared for as such and dogs in our care will get basic training but any additional training is up to the new adopter, we are willing to answer questions/concerns if need be with your new pet to the best of our ability. All dogs/cats bring adopted go through an adjustment period ( times can very from three hours to three months) which can include but not limited to : little appetite/having accidents/chewing/howling/pacing /lonely /shy etc every dog/cat is different . We just request patience, willingness and a big heart and we will help with guidance along the way if needed, routine can be very beneficial for a animal when newly adjusting.
