LESSON DETAILS - Please read these policies carefully before beginning lessons.
These guidelines help us keep lessons running smoothly, keep everyone safe, and make the barn a pleasant place for both horses and people.
CANCELLATION POLICY
24 HOURS' NOTICE IS REQUIRED
A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required when cancelling a lesson or switching lesson days or times.
If you are feeling unwell, please notify me as soon as possible so I can make the necessary adjustments. Last-minute cancellations create challenges, including reposting schedules and sometimes asking other riders to adjust their lesson times.
We allow two (2) cancellations per calendar year without charge when less than 24 hours' notice is given. *These are your two annual grace cancellations*
*NOTE – THIS Grace DOES NOT APPLY TO THE STARTER PACKAGE.
If you are able to reschedule within the same week, we will do our best to accommodate you. However, rescheduling does not eliminate the non-24-hour cancellation charge, unless the cancellation falls within your two annual grace cancellations.
If we receive too many non-24-hour cancellations, we will be forced to relook at this policy and may switch to pre-paid lessons.
1. TO CANCEL A LESSON
TEXT our Lesson Cancellation Number: 1(657) 234-4873 “1(657) FIGURE”
NO OTHER METHOD OF CANCELLATION CAN BE HONORED. It is too difficult to keep track of and remember verbal conversations, emails, Messenger messages, or phone calls.
2. 24-HOUR NOTICE
A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required to:
- Cancel a lesson
- Switch lesson times
- Switch lesson days
Example: If your lesson is scheduled for Tuesday evening and you need to cancel, you must notify us by 5:00 PM Monday or you will still be charged for the lesson. NOTE – Graces DOES NOT APPLY TO THE STARTER PACKAGE.
3. NON-24-HOUR CANCELLATIONS
If you cancel within 24 hours of your lesson and have already used your two (2) annual grace cancellations, you will be responsible for payment of the lesson.
While rescheduling within the same week may be possible if there are openings; rescheduling does not replace the charge for a non-24-hour cancellation.
4. YOUR TEXT TO CANCEL MUST INCLUDE

Please include all of the following:
- Rider's Name
- Month/Date of the cancelled lesson
- Number of grace cancellations remaining after this cancellation
5. RESCHEDULING
If cancelling for reasons other than illness, please ask if we can reschedule you. We are usually able to fit you in during the week if there is an opening.
ILLNESS / CONTAGIOUS CONDITIONS
We want to keep our riders, families, staff, and horses as healthy as possible.
If you feel that you have been exposed to COVID, please cancel and reschedule. We would prefer to always stay on the safe side. If you have been exposed to COVID or a family member has COVID, please cancel your lesson. IF YOU HAVE A COLD OR ANYTHING THAT COULD BE CONTAGIOUS — PLEASE CANCEL THE LESSON.

1. ENTERING THE BARN
Enter at the left of the barn if the overhead door is closed.
If horses are in the aisle, please wait or ask permission to pass.
2. FACEBOOK LESSON GROUP - Please do not forget this step.

4. WEBSITE

5. REQUIRED FORMS
On the website, please complete the following:
A) Digital TAS Release Form. Read and sign a separate release form for each person riding and anyone visiting to watch. If you cannot figure out the digital form, download the PDF version of the release and bring it with you to class. A release MUST be completed prior to riding.
B) Lesson Details - Read and sign this form - Lesson Details prior to riding.
6. NEW STUDENT INFORMATION

Include:
- Parent's name, Riders name
- Rider's birthdate
- Phone number(s)
- Rider's mailing address, including ZIP code
- Inform me if Tuesday or Thursday works better for you.
*This step is VERY important; This triggers setting you up to be added on the schedule
TYPICAL LESSON DAYS & TIMES
Tuesdays & Thursdays
Private Lessons: Starting at 4:00 PM
Group Lessons: 5:00 PM, 6:00 PM & 7:30 PM
RELEASES
ALL VISITORS MUST SIGN A RELEASE PRIOR TO ENTERING THE BARN.
It is the responsibility of the student/parent to make sure their guests complete a release.
The release form for visitors is the same one used by riders and can be found on our website: moriesian.net/documents
Please inform your guests:
- If horses are in the aisle, they need to wait or ask permission to pass.
- Non-riders must stay in the designated viewing area for their own safety and to meet our insurance requirements.
STARTING LESSONS
- I will send you an invitation to the lesson page where we set lesson times. If you are not on Facebook, I will need your email address.
- I normally post lessons on the lesson page/email the night before.
- Times may change slightly on your lesson day, but they will remain within the time frame you have selected.
- Once you begin lessons, I will continue posting your lesson for that same day the following week until you notify me otherwise.
SHOES
Shoes with a heel are recommended for safety.
Aggressive tread on shoes is not recommended. The purpose is to allow the foot to slip out of the stirrup if needed. The heel helps prevent the foot from going all the way through the stirrup and becoming hung up.
During winter, wear warm winter boots. They are safe because they can easily slip off if needed.
BOOT BOX
We have a boot exchange!
If you need boots, please feel free to pick through the boot box. When you outgrow your boots, we encourage you to place them in the boot box for others. The boot box is on the shelf by the English pads. You may donate boots, or you may put a name and price on them so we can do our best to reimburse you.
If you take a boot with a price tag on it, please put the tag and the amount requested into the cash box so we can give the requested amount to the previous owner. This box gets used and is appreciated!
PORT-A-POTTY
The porta potty is located between the two trees to the right of the barn entrance.
The light will come on when the door opens. During winter, please turn off the heater before exiting.
VIEWING AREA
We have a designated sitting area for watching lessons.
PLEASE DO NOT STAY IN THE AISLE WHERE THE HORSES ARE.
I know we allowed this in the past; however, our insurance company is becoming more particular about this.
We ask everyone to PLEASE stay inside the sitting area.
If someone new is coming to watch, YOU are responsible for making sure they fill out a release before entering the barn.
HELMETS
You are welcome to use our helmets for a month or so. For hygiene reasons, once you know your rider will be continuing lessons, we encourage you to purchase a properly fitted, certified riding helmet.
CASH BOX / LESSON PAYMENTS
The cash box for lesson payments is attached to the wood jacket locker next to the desk.
CHECKS -Checks do not need to be placed in an envelope.

- Put the RIDER'S NAME IN THE MEMO EVERY TIME
The rider's name in the memo helps with bookkeeping!
CASH -Cash must be placed in an envelope.
Please write the following on the envelope:
RESPONSIBILITY
-CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR HORSE!
- Please clean up after your horse. Poop must be picked up after your lesson — in the arena, stall, or outside. No turds left behind. NOT kidding... ALL TURDS MATTER.
- When you untack, PLEASE put the saddle, bridle, and pad back in their proper places.
- Each Western saddle has a number
- Each English saddle has a letter
- Please cover the saddles!
*Parents, please help with reminding your riders.
ARRIVAL TIME
Please plan to arrive 15–20 minutes early so you have enough time to catch and tack up your horse and be ready for your entire lesson.
If you have not yet learned our saddle and bridling techniques, we will show you how. We will then let you practice in front of us until you are comfortable. This also includes catching your horse. You will watch and practice before you are expected to do it on your own.
LOST & FOUND
We have a Lost & Found box located on the middle shelf by the English pads.
Items not claimed within one month may be used or donated.
WINTER / HEATING SEASON
During heating season, there is an additional $5.00 heating charge per lesson.
We will notify everyone by posting on the group lesson page when heating season starts and stops.
Dress warm! We will keep the indoor arena around 45 degrees during heating season.
