Have you ever considered trying to design or develop your own video game? Or perhaps you want to learn the skills necessary to pursue app-building? Then YCW (Youth Coding Workshops) is the place for you! We hold workshops teaching a variety of programming skills used in software development from the fundamentals of Python to object-oriented programming and 2-D game design. No matter your skill or experience in whatever language you are learning, YCW always has something to offer, because we have a collection of problems and projects for students of all types. We also have experienced staff members who can help you with the nuances of any project or challenge you are trying to undertake.
This program will be run by Anisha Rao, who is a Senior at Dublin High School. She has five years of computer science and coding experience, as well as 70+ hours of general tutoring experience. This program will be monitored by Anisha’s mother, Priya Kulandaivelu.
This semester YCW is offering two classes, Scratch and Python Advanced. Scratch is an introductory course meant for students with no programming experience to learn Scratch, a block coding programming language. It's a great option to introduce younger students to programming concepts. We also recommend this class to students who took Python Basics last semester and had difficulty with it. Python Advanced is the secondary course after Python Basics, covering dictionaries, classes, and files, among other concepts. We highly encourage all students who took Python Basics last semester to take Python Advanced!
