If this form is not accessible to you, please email humanites@concordia.ca and gpdhumanities.ca and we will assist you.
This form is for faculty members to fill out. But it is also meant for students, to help understand the process.
Faculty members: Thanks for your support of the Humanities PhD program and of our students. If you haven't previously participated in a thesis proposal defence in our program, please review our page on Thesis proposal defences and also make sure your student and other committee members have reviewed these pages.
The purpose of this form is to let us know that the thesis proposal is ready to defend; to start the scheduling process; and to give you a checklist of steps crucial to the eventual thesis submission, thesis defence, and graduation.
Note that our usual practice is to have the Humanities GPD Chair the thesis defence, so scheduling involves them as well. If they cannot attend, we arrange for substitutes. (If the GPD is on the committee, we seek another person to chair.) Defence are two hours.
