About the club...
The Warrnambool Offshore and Light Game Fishing Club is a family oriented club with an emphasis on game fishing. The club has regular fishing trips for members (weather permitting) – mainly offshore, but also estuary fishing on the Hopkins, Curdies and Fitzroy rivers, surf fishing and freshwater trips.
Variety of fishing . . .
Light game fishing is not all offshore. We provide an opportunity to pursue various types of light tackle sport fishing, including:
- offshore game fishing - surf fishing - estuary (bait and lure fishing) - freshwater fishing (lakes and rivers)
Game fishing . . .
The highlight of the year is the offshore fishing for Southern Bluefin Tuna that has almost become a 12 month fishery, with schools of large and school sized Southern Bluefin Tuna and other game fish visit our nearby shores.
Members regularly travel to the Port MacDonnell Annual Tuna Competition, and fish offshore from Portland, Port Fairy and Warrnambool for Southern Bluefin Tuna, Yellow tail king fish, Mako Shark and other trophy size game fish.
If you don’t have a boat . . .
You don’t even need a boat to come fishing with the Offshore Club. Club members with a boat are often looking for a “deckie “(deckhand) or fishing buddy to share a fishing trip or two.
Family and social activities . . .
Partners and children are welcome and are encouraged to take part in club activities. The club also conducts other activities including community and members only fishing competition, weekend family camping trips, Xmas party and the annual trophy presentation night.
