  • Criteria and Guidelines

  • The Glacier Hills Employee Plus Scholarship Program is a program that supports the educational pursuits of the children of Glacier Hills employees. The program is supported by private gifts to the Glacier Hills Foundation. Two scholarships of $2,500 are awarded each year. 

    The Employee Plus scholarships are awarded annually, one in the fall/winter cycle, and one in the spring/summer cycle. The application criteria are released, applications reviewed, and scholarships awarded along with the employee scholarships program. 

  • Eligibility Requirements:

    Glacier Hills Employee Plus Scholarship Eligibility:

    • Mother, Father, or Legal Guardian is currently employed by Glacier Hills, Unidine at Glacier Hills, or Select Care at Glacier Hills. Employees must have worked the following length of time.
      • Full-time – at least 3 months at time of application submission
      • Part-time – at least 6 months at time of application submission
      • Casual – at least 9 months at time of application submission
    • Parent employee is a colleague in good standing (no corrective action on file within the past six months).   
    • Student must submit a complete application with all supporting documentation.
    • Student must document a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above on a 4.0 scale (college or high school).
    • Student must demonstrate history of community or volunteer service.
    • Student is currently enrolled in, or accepted into, an accredited college or university or certification program.

     Evaluation and Selection Process:

    • Scholarships are awarded on an objective and non-discriminatory basis without regard to race, gender, creed, or national origin using a pre-determined review process. Eligibility alone does not guarantee receipt of a scholarship and not all applicants will necessarily receive an award.
    • The Scholarship Committee will review each eligible application. The Scholarship Committee is appointed by the Glacier Hills Foundation and comprised of Glacier Hills’ residents and Foundation board members.
    • The Scholarship Committee will determine award based on the information in the application, essay, and profesional letters of recommendation.
    • There are five components to the Glacier Hills Employee Plus Scholarship Program:
      1. Completed Application
      2. Personal Essay (see below)
      3. Proof of acceptance/enrollment in an accredited college/university (detailed schedule) or information about the training/certification to be completed
      4. Community Service (demonstrated history of community or volunteer service)
      5. At least two professional letters of recommendation (must come from a community service supervisor/leader, current or former teacher, or job supervisor).
    • Applications will be evaluated based on the following:
      1. All of the above items are included
      2. Grade Point Average (GPA)
      3. Personal Essay:
        1. Structure – Format should follow specified rules and requirements listed above (see Personal Essay Criteria)
        2. Clarity – Sentence structure should be clear and concise
        3. Grammar – Essay will be evaluated for proper grammatical usage
        4. Narrative – Essay will be evaluated to determine if the essay addressed the chosen topic(s)
        5. Content – Be sure to include personal information about how you became interested in the field, what extracurricular activities you have participated in, why you believe this is the right field for you, etc.
      4. Two or more professional letters of recommendation

  • Applicant Agreement

  • The information I have submitted for this application is correct and complete to the best of my knowledge. I give permission for the Glacier Hills Foundation to release this information to its Scholarship Committee and donors, so that I may be considered for scholarships and awards. If offered an award, Glacier Hills has my permission to use my name, photo, and non-confidential information in their promotional materials.

    I have familiarized myself with the rules and guidelines for the Glacier Hills Foundation Employee Plus Scholarship Program and confirm that:

    • I meet the basic requirements for the scholarship.
    • I will abide by all provisions set forth in the rules and agree to accept, as final, the decisions agreed upon by the Glacier Hills Foundation Scholarship Committee.
       

    Further, I agree not to hold liable the committee as a whole, or its members, or Glacier Hills to any obligations (financial or otherwise) other than those stipulated in the rules, if it becomes necessary at any time to discontinue the Glacier Hills Employee Plus Scholarship Program.

    Please Note:

    If selected, I agree to meet all obligations as stated in the Glacier Hills Foundation Employee Scholarship Plus Acceptance Form. Additionally, I recognize that the following are strongly encouraged:

    • An interview with the donor or Scholarship Committee, as requested.
    • Attend the Annual Scholarship Luncheon.
