  • Work With Us!

  • Brooklyn Yard Veterinary Hospital is an independently owned, practice in a sea of corporate clinics in the Portland area. We are committed to a healthy workplace culture with an emphasis on employee engagement and satisfaction. Community involvement and supporting select animal non-profits and other local small businesses are important to us. Our practice supports both the physical and behavioral health of our patients.

We are always on the lookout for outstanding individuals to join our team. Even if we are not actively looking for a particular position, we encourage you to drop us a line and send us a resume!

  • We hire veterinarians who care deeply about clinical excellence and the patient experience. Equally important is the ability to communicate knowledge empathetically and effectively to clients. Our clinic is widely known for supporting both the physical and emotional health of our patients, so we support and help guardians who may have pets that struggle in a veterinary setting.

We strongly believe in being a part of our community through support of select animal non-profits (OTAT PDX, PDX Cat Trapper, & PAW Team). We also regularly participate in neighborhood collaborations and events (we put out our own beer can release with local brewery RUSE for our 5th year anniversary!). We expect our associate veterinarians to genuinely want to be a part of our local and hyperlocal communities.

Veterinarians at BYVH are supported by a robust and highly skilled Certified Veterinary Technician & Veterinary Assistant team. Our technical staff performs all blood draws, radiographs, catheter placements, induction, intubation, dental scaling, dental radiographs, dental charting, anesthetic monitoring, patient recovery, creating and delivering estimates and invoicing so that our veterinarians can focus on diagnosing, treatment plans and communicating thoroughly with clients.

Engaging clients and computer efficacy are essential to your role at BYVH, as well as skills including general surgery, oral surgery and radiographic evaluation, sound diagnostic methodology and understanding low-stress veterinary care with a strong knowledge of behavior or desire to learn more about behavior. We support work-life balance with a 3 day work week with a rotating Saturday schedule (every 3rd-4th Saturday). You will be supported by modern, state of the art equipment and facilities, AI transcribing for medical records, engaged support staff and management team. Full time benefits including PTO, continuing education stipend, health insurance, long-term disability insurance, and 401k with match. Pay is highly competitive and based on experience, certifications, and previous professional accomplishments.

We are independent and local and value our clinic culture above all!

  • Our doctors and staff truly enjoy teaching and supporting those that are interested in the veterinary profession. Are you curious about small animal medicine? Are you a budding veterinary student or interested in learning about becoming a credentialed veterinary technician? We are happy to offer observational time in a clinical setting for select candidates.

If you are a current veterinary student or technician student, we love hosting those well into their formal education. An externship/preceptorship period is such a valuable experience. Not only do you get to practice what you have been learning, but you also continue your education.

Our extern program will introduce you to basic surgeries, behavior considerations, ultrasound, venipuncture techniques, greeting clients, treating patients, learning how to build a flow, and creating an environment conducive to cooperative work.
