In July 2022, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) confirmed Michigan's first case of beech leaf disease in southern St. Clair County. Friends of the St. Clair River and Lake St. Clair Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (CISMA) are asking for your help finding beech trees in St. Clair and Macomb Counties. These reports will help our staff monitor the spread of the disease.
Beech leaf disease can occur anywhere, from a single beech tree in a yard to a large woodland. Beech tree surveys will be used to improve our understanding of the disease, such as how it spreads and how pervasive the disease is across Southeast Michigan. Thank you for helping protect our natural resources! Your information will remain confidential and will not be shared without consent. See the bottom of the form for contact information.
