VOLUNTEER ELIGIBILITY POLICY
Ashiyanaa sincerely appreciates your interest in our organization. Ashiyanaa strives to provide its clients bias-free and objective guidance in navigating the domestic violence and related issues they are facing. Working or volunteering in the domestic violence field may trigger stressors and strong emotions due to prior experiences. It is extremely important that our volunteers are able to handle the mental and emotional weight of the work. For this reason, we require the following:
1. You must be over the age of 18.
2. All prospective volunteers wanting to work with Ashiyanaa in any capacity, who may have experienced gender-based violence (interpersonal violence) in their personal lives, will not be accepted to join the organization for a minimum of 3 years after the resolution of the relationship and all legal matters, including child custody, pertaining to the said relationship.
3. You must not be an Ashiyanaa or other domestic violence crisis center client, irrespective of the location, within the past 3 years.
4. Ashiyanaa reserves the right to ask for a psychological assessment with one of our team mental health personnel to determine eligibility.
5. Ashiyanaa reserves the right to accept or reject your application.
