Through entertaining concerts and interactive, online lessons, students learn music fundamentals (melody, rhythm, form, artistry, and expression) first-hand from our world-class musicians and teaching artists. Students discover the intimacy of chamber music and the values of cooperation, teamwork, and personal responsibility that are essential to a successful performance.
Join host Jerome Brooks, co-host Ana Cantorán Viramontes, and musicians of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center as they explore the many musical moods of Johannes Brahms and discover the roots of melody through the works of Coleridge-Taylor, Price, and Burleigh.
Accompanying teaching sessions are led by teaching artists of the Vision Collective and Youth Orchestra of Urban Towns and Hoods. Teaching sessions are held all on the same day in a school for the number of classes specified below. Sessions introduce students to music concepts covered at the accompanying concert and include performance by the teaching artist and class activities.
