    First, we are going to ask you a few questions about yourself and your household.
  • Now we are going to ask you a few questions about the gunlock that you received from Safer Communities Montana. For this survey, "firearm" refers to pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns, or modified versions of these firearms. We are not asking about air guns, bb guns, starter pistols, or paintball guns. By "working firearm", we mean a gun that is in working condition and capable of being fired.

  • It is important to Safer Communities that all who have their gunlocks have access to the Gun Lock Instructions. If you do not have access to the instructions, please refer below:

    How to reset and use your trigger lock 

    The lock is preset to 0-0-0 
    1. Press the large black button on the left side to release the lock and pull apart the two sides 
    2 . With dials set to the current combination, use a pin, pen, or small utensil to press the shiny, circular button. 
    3. Continue to apply pressure to the button and set dials to your personalized combination. 
    4. Release the reset button and your combination is set 
     
     
    Installing your trigger lock 
    DO NOT INSTALL THIS LOCK ON A LOADED GUN 
    1. To open the lock, set your dial to your new combination, press the large black button, and pull apart the lock. 
    2. Insert the male half of the lock through the trigger guard and behind the trigger if possible. 
    3. After determining best locking position, press the two units together. Make sure the lock is tight and cannot be moved after it is installed.
