This form is for homeowners, business owners, or organizations interested in planting a fruit tree in your space with the Portland Fruit Tree Project. If you already have fruit trees and are interested in receiving fruit tree care services, please email treecare@portlandfruit.org to learn about your options.
In an effort to increase tree and food access in low-canopy neighborhoods, Portland Fruit Tree Project will be planting approximately 100 trees at private homes between November 2022 and April 2023.
Tree Planting will include:
- Site visit to ensure tree success, discuss available varieties, and talk about water access
- Planting 2+ fruit trees from our available trees AND basic irrigation where possible
- At least 2 tree care visits per year for 3 years to provide pruning, tree training, and coaching
- To help these new trees thrive Portland Fruit Tree Project will also assist in setting up basic irrigation, and commit to maintaining the tree for three years.
Established trees can increase property values, help reduce heat/cool homes, and provide healthy habitat for humans and animals alike.
We will prioritize spaces that receive a tree equity score of 75 or lower, spaces east of 82nd Ave., BIPOC land ownership, and neighborhoods or properties that can house 4+ trees (this facilitates more fruiting and consistent care, along with a larger benefit for the community).
You or your organization are not limited to the number of trees you can receive through this program-plant 2 or 3 if you have the room!
Planting season will be January through mid-April 2023. After filling out this form, please allow until 12/1 to hear from us as we go through all of the interest forms we receive. Because funding and tree stock is limited, it is possible that not everyone who fills out this form will receive trees this year.
